The one downside to yesterday was a nasty altercation between a couple of Saints and Brighton fans in the coach park after the game. I didn't see how it started but punches were thrown on both sides. Not good.
That sort of thing will always occur at a local derby unfortunately, blame it on booze, bad losers or just plain old moronic idiocy.... Did they fix the air con on the way back btw?....bet you never cared that much anyway!...
I'm not surprised, unfortunately. Some of our fans were being absolute dickheads on the way out of the ground.
Police didn't help either. Coach park is one of the more likely places for trouble to kick off as there were Brighton coaches as well as Saints coaches. But there no coppers in sight.
Apparently a few of ours got attacked in the home end too. What happens when sun, alcohol and idiots mix I suppose.
I'd like to see us with a settled defence...remember I followed football when Arsenal's back four were legendary both for defence and being involved in goals from corners. Ralph is still stirring the pot hoping some tit-bit will rise to the top. Can't judge the new lad yet, but we have what we have...even middling defenders can benefit from playing every week together....a good defence knows everyone's strengths...in our case the defence could become familiar with everyone's weaknesses. In better times we had a team that tracked back well despite being an attacking side...Brighton's disallowed goal revealed numerous Saints' players, but no one attacking any opposition players. Space doesn't score goals.
Nobody should be able to score with their head from towards the back of the area. That is truly bad marking and the responsible player for being there should have his ass kicked and dropped. That was lack of concentration something you cannot afford in the premier.!!!!
To be fair Gunn would have easily saved it had Burn not fouled him while being in an offside position.
Ings/Adams/Obafemi Djenepo/Redmond/Boufal/Armstrong/JWP There is some pace and creativity there. Could? Be one hell of a season.
I'd currently go with Ings supported by Redmond, Boufal, and Armstrong. Throw Djenepo on with 25 mins to go.
Just catching the game, as I was busy yesterday (drinking in the sun and seeing England win ) That tackle was atrocious!
Rugby. Great day. Good performance. Hopefully I get to see a win next week in my first appearance of the season.
Rugby in August? Bad enough playing football on rock hard pitches, must be great fun getting trampled on by 18 stone of steaming beef in those conditions.
