wondering if anyone can offer any advice my kid took a gcse exam which was in 3 parts. got a D. on checking its because there was an absent mark against 1 exam. school have confirmed attendance and have said papers got lost by examining board now saying will have to redo the paper. is this right? my kid is a straight A student and is doing gcse's 2 years early. all know this and projected mark was an A. the school tried to say 'D is excellent' for age etc When I was at school I am sure if they messed up the projected mark applied? anyone know? and who should i contact?
Straight 'A' student, are you sure he is your kid? Dev might know something, it might even have been him that lost it, think he works in the marking department or something. If they haven't heard of him, just ask for the guy with the meatfeast pizza.
yeah was going to found out who the body was today but its the schools attitude i am most suprised with. i know some laugh at this, but when i was teaching it wasnt the kids problem if we or the examining board messed up. It was the schools problem to chase it up, and no way would we have said what this school has said, basically redo the paper thing is its happened to some others too, so its not 1 kid or us making it up etc. The records are there I think thats why I posted it on here just in case i had missed something, and some of the younger members may have been through it/know someone etc
would you believe me if i told you i had 7 kids? and all are little geniuses, one has just broken the record for having the highest all round marks in the school 3 years running
you should probably follow devs advice. i really hope it works out cos thats a massive **** up by the school email me and let me know how it goes? [email protected]
I don't know exams work down south but up here it is usually the School who lodge the appeal on the student's behalf.
While it is a massive balls up and it's not your child's responsibility, I think that he/she may still have to resit the exam. The paper's gone, so there's nothing to mark. It's unfair, but unless they just go with the projected mark, what else can they do? Very poor of them not to chase this up as far as they can go though, especially considering that it's their mistake.
thats what i thought tbh they didnt even contact us in the first instance. When school started my kid mentioned it to the form teacher who said she will look into it we heard nothing and chased up. the school hasnt contacted us untill today with what i have told you, after us chasing this is supposed to be a decent school too thats why i am on here (i know of all places), i thought i had missed something
There's a complaints procedure, but I'm not sure if it'll do you any good, to be honest. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Parents...elopment/YourChildsWelfareAtSchool/DG_4016106 Might make them think about their attitude and act differently if it happens to some other kid in the future, though.
I don't think there's anything you can do, if it's gone missing it'll most likely be the school's fault, the body can't mark it if the paper's not there. Take a dump on the Head's desk
how can you be a teacher at 19 you ******? its 4 years, 3 for degree and 1 for your pgce and your right i technically dont have 7 kids have 6 and 1 on the way I would have thought you of all people would have had faith, as you made mod believe! dreams can come true
Thanks for all those who posted sensible stuff It looks like retakes. The school will keep chasing, or so they say. Will see the head and make my points regarding the way it has been handled The place recently became an academy and are building a new site, dont know if that had something to do with it
yes. as i say it was in 3 parts (it was french by the way) and in one part a few extra points would make the B an A. annoyed about it, but always looks at the positive Got a B in physics aged 14, can you believe will retake as wants an A
