Time for Denly, Bairstow and Buttler to stand up and be counted

I doubt we’ll get to 3 figures here.

    Embarrassing

Can’t be bothered to watch it.

(Yet another) England batting collapse is as predictable as Bozo Johnson’s Brexit ‘strategy’

A ****ing disgrace. Root isn't a captain, and it's ****ed his batting up <grr>

A very trenchant observation. Oh for another Mike Brearley.

He should be sacked for this.

I know that seems one jerk but he's been pissing about as captain for too long, he's got to go.

He shouldn't even be in the team, let alone captain it.

Bloody farcical. We had great batting conditions today and yet again our top 3 batsmen couldn't take advantage of it.

On this occasion the batting was atrocious throughout, but just about every test England play, it's alway seems to be 50-75/ 3, before we have a mini revival through the middle order. We desperately need a couple of opening batsman who can take the shine off the ball!

England’s batting has been appalling in test cricket for some time. Too many gung ho players who cant adapt. Only players we have who can adapt is Stokes and Bairstow. Root isnt gung ho. His job in white ball is anchor in the innings. Stokes and Bairstow are capable of attacking and defending

Buttler and Roy are both 1 day players. Neither have the patience or technique to play test cricket

Denly is out of his depth

Burns has impressed me abit with his ability to dig in but the standard isnt that high

But the major issue is there is no one pushing them to take their shirts. We was brilliant at test cricket a few years ago but useless in white ball. We changed the focus in an attempt of winning the world cup which worked but sacrificed our test results

Unless we can bowl the Aussies out for about 20 runs this morning and the batsman really step up which is highly unlikely then the ashes are lost. Its been a great summer for England with the world cup but it will be a shame if it ends sour with getting hammered in the ashes

Mate, take the captaincy off him, and watch his batting average soar. Wouldn’t be the first.

And give the captaincy to who? There is no one else. Cant burden Stokes with it as he has alot to do already. Root is a very good captain. Who would you prefer him or Tim Paine.

Paine is a walking wicket, gets most of his referrals wrong and in the 1st test was clearly undermined by Steve Smith

Root has the respect and gets most of his decisions right. The team failure to capitalise in the key moments isnt all on Root

Roy out for 8 in the 2nd innings

Either give him a go in the middle order or drop him

He has failed miserably in 7 of his 8 innings. His only decent innings was against Ireland who I could score runs against
