I hate when someone, through no fault of their own, can't find their feet in a team and then get a move away and bang them in for fun. Walters being a prime example.

Altidore did not score but in all the games I saw he played well. And with the right service could have scored lots of goals. Thought he held the ball up well and was able to muscle out some class defenders. Surprise so many people were down on him

He scored a free kick for us in the League cup against Southend and then scored against Manchester City to make it 2-0 after Georgie B's fine long range effort put us 1-0 up. (It could be the other way around, mind)

Lets not forget in Jon Walters case he couldn't hit a barn door with us in the end and had to go down the league ladder to Chester I believe.

He then had a good game in the FA Cup against Ipswich and the rest is history.

I liked Altidore but his scoring record to date wherever he's been has been woeful.

It was Wrexham he moved to and he didn't need to drop down that far, but his young daughter was very ill in hospital and he specifically wanted to go to Wrexham, as it's where his wife's family lived. I liked Walters, his goal scoring record was poor with us, but I liked the way he played and along with Nicky Forster, I think he was a decent player who just didn't fit at the time.

Still not sure why people questioned Jozy? He was 18 when he arrived at the KC as a great talent. Agree that he did well in the PL but lacked the killer instinct at that time- he rattled some england international full backs in case you have forgotten.....He is obviously learning fast in Holland, banging them in - 5 in 6 in the league this season (would we not all love to have such a striker?), now european goals- afraid we did let a top player slip through our hands when we had a chance to tie him up long term and at least make some much needed cash.... <yikes>.
Seems we lost a lot of young talent over the years, glad we have NP now and the time when nurturing and supporting upcoming, young players have finally arrived at the KC- was crying out for these for the 20 years I support the tigers.:emoticon-0100-smile

Jozy is one of those players who split opinions and that's what strikers do when you go by goal records only. He was young but being built like a brick ****house caused havoc with defenders. I liked to see him play, and see them panic and chop him down. Did go down easily but 80% of the time from real fouls.

Good to see him scroring, pity it's not for us.

I think Altidore was a good player i mean he was only 21 wasn't he. He just needed to learn how to score

Altidore was actually really good, it's only stupid people who look solely at goal records who can't see that. Him and Venegoor were a great partnership for us that season, and if it wasn't for the shoddy defence we'd have stayed up (the Dowie debacle didn't help either but we aren't going into that again).

I always think the goal JVoH scored against Wolves was a fantastic team goal, everything about it from Jozy destroying their defenders, knocing it across to big Jan and him hitting it with his left foot as it was just getting away from him and somehow smashing it in the bottom corner with a little bit of curl to just take it away from the keeper. One of the best finishes I've ever seen when you look at the technique of it. Those two could have had a great partnership if the manager hadn't kept swapping it around and playing ***an or someone up front on their own instead of the 2 good strikers we had.

I liked Jozy, he was strong, powerful and quick, caused no end of problems with opposition defences. Won no end of penalties and free kicks too.. He was let down by his finishing but I must say most his shots were on target he just opened up too early on and indicated to the keeper where he was placing his shot and didn't hit it with enough power. I'd have loved to have kept him but at £6.5m, even if we'd have stayed up that season it would probably have been unlikely...

If's and buts dont show up on strikers goalscoring records I'm araid and when you look back at his record 4 City he just did not score enough! The dutch league may be good 4 him as it has been for other players who couldn't cut it in the EPL, Alfonso Alves springs 2 mind

But the point is it's not just about who scores the most goals. Last year Berbatov was top scorer in the league for a while but Utd dropped him eventually because the other two had a better partnership. Similarly, if it was just about goals that Odemwingie would be playing for a top 4 side as would Darren Bent, but clearly the likes of Rooney who don't score as many are still better players. With Altidore his job was more about doing the donkey work, JVoH was there to get the goals. If they had been played together more often we'd have seen a fruitful relationship but the managers at the time didn't have the balls to play 2 up front.

Also, whilst Altidore never scored many it's not as though he was missing chances left right and centre like a certain Mr Fryatt has been doing. Altidore never got the chances and that makes him ****, Fryatt has been missing them consistently and people say things about the service not being there, but it obviously is otherwise there wouldn't be chances for him to miss!

Just to make myself clear I'm not knocking Fryatt I just think his recent form is a perfect way to make people rethink their views on other strikers.

Is this the same strike force and midfield that had the joint least goals scored in that division with 34.......

He had potential but he did not fulfil it with us and we never had the option to sign him for anything under 8M, and if you think he was worth 8M you are kidding yourselves. And the fact we got relagated meant we never actualyl had a chance to sign him.

Got to admit that I liked Altidore, as said he did cause a few problems can't remember the team but didn't he get all four defenders booked in one game
