Beer contains a **** load of sugars. Switch to red wine if you have to booze, or clear spirits. Salt raises blood pressure and narrows/hardens the arteries. **** that!
Haven't eaten salt for 30 years. Despite a family history of high blood pressure, mine remains pretty good. If you stop eating salt, your body adjusts very quickly to its absence. You will get dreadful cramp for a week or so as you go through withdrawl symptoms.
Red wine and gout are not good bed-fellows. Clear spirits are OK, but I'm quite happy going without. Losing loads of weigh reduces blood pressure so the salt tend to balance it. My blood pressure has fallen.
Is that the pink stuff that's been there for about 3 million years and gets a 3 year use-by date as soon as the put it into plastic?
Salt is unusual in that it is bad to have too little or too much. You need to replace lost salt from sweat and (as any Spurs fan will know) tears. Too much leads to issues with high blood pressure.
OOPS. Thought I was on the transfer thread. Turns out to be the food tech thread. Maybe it's Norwich and Delia.
Which is fine, as long as we replace those leaving with better players. I'm not convinced that we're doing enough at youth level to ensure that happens.
I've already got gout in my big toe. It's numb.I take a pill which eliminates the pain. (17 years of Sunday football!)
I think what we're seeing Re the academy is to be expected and in all honesty is probably long overdue. We've all spoken on this thread about how tricky it is to improve the current first team. With this summer's additions I'd extend that statement to the bench too. Players like Kane, Son, Eriksen, Jan etc. are effectively impossible to improve on without limitless funds and one of 3 players in world football in their respective positions being happy to come to Spurs. So it comes as no surprise to me that our academy is lagging behind with increasing visibility. Players are breaking through to first teams at younger ages than ever before, so much so that Georgiou and Onomah looked relatively ancient in comparison. N'Dombele is the same age as the two of them and he has already played regular CL football and looks at home at PL level. This high up the summit, oxygen is scarce and there isn't enough of it to go around. The space and time to 'prove' yourself is shrinking by the season. A club in our position simply doesn't have the time to wait for a 20-something year old to come good, and certainly not to endure a season lost to injury. Which is why Onomah's boat sailed and Amos is probably on his last chance to impress. As the club's financial power increases, I can only see this gap between academy and first team growing bigger as it becomes easier to take the lazy option and buy promising young players rather than playing the patient waiting game. Sure, every few years we'll uncover a rare gem like Kane or Winks but 99% of every academy cohort simply won't be good enough, ever. And recycling them through endless meaningless loans only serves to delay the inevitable on the hope that they stay in the window long enough for potential buyers to remember that they exist. When i win both prediction leagues this season, I plan to use my winnings to buy out ENIC. My first act as King will be to sell Dier and promote Winks to club captain. My second act will be to close down the U23 operation as it is currently a footballing no-man's land filled with players who are wasting their careers clinging desperately to a childhood dream. And the worst part is that most of them can't see that the soothing light at the end of the tunnel is just a freight train coming their way when they end up at a nobody team in the lower reaches of european football.
We need the academy to produce players though, as our squad isn't big enough and we don't want to spend money. I think that another DOF might be in order, as our transfer business and youth system is a bit of a mess at the moment, in my opinion. We seem to have two strikers at the club and one of them is 17 and injured. Pretty ridiculous.
Then the bar is raised higher. Which leads to ... "When i win both prediction leagues this season, I plan to use my winnings to buy out ENIC. My first act as King will be to sell Dier and promote Winks to club captain. My second act will be to close down the U23 operation" How will you do that, when I own THFC and with Levy still as chairman I wield my iron fist by : 1. Demoting Hugo to club captain 2. Ensuring Winks is a squad player 3, Demanding the academy returns to the pre-Pochettino era, where the loan pipeline produces talent for the seniors who, if they do not make it quickly, will be sold on ASAP.
