Lucas Leiva has made more tackles than any other player in the Premier League this season with 28. Warrior, legend, creator and destroyer. Keep it up you beast!
He's showing that the Brazil manager was right to put his faith in him. Lucas could be skipper for both club and country in the next few years. And the thing that makes it sweeter, he cost a fifth of what Anderson cost. So that lot can shove their Chicarito £7 million-Andy Carroll £35 million up their arses.
He's becoming the midfield god, his passing in the Stoke game was brilliant, he has abolished the myth that he only passes sideways. Some of his through balls were class. Henducas you put your scores in?
Playing alongside someone like Adam who relieves Lucas of the attacking duties definately makes me appreciate him more. Although I was always a fan of him, I felt his ability was rather limited as I often compared him to Mascherano and Alonso which is always unfair. But now he's operating purely as the DM without worrying about starting attacks. His tackling and closing down is always improving and his short but snappy passing ensures we keep possession. Whilst not having the defensive ability of Mascherano nor the technique of Alonso (both very high standards to achieve), he certainly has a more rounded game than the pair and Rafa really did pick a gem when he bought Lucas.
This is not a comparison to United KPR, this is to say that Lucas was worth the wait and his purchase is vindicated after many years. Don't drag that comparison crap on here.
Lucas is something else we owe thanks to Rafa for Lucas is carving himself a new mould, one totally different to that of Masch and Alonso, his own unique mould
yep, not very confident with this weeks though, have a lotof 1-0s... I remember against stoke when lucas collected a short pass, turned while holding off a stoke player and then hit a lovely through ball which might have been through the legs of another stoke midfielder. Was hoping the lucas haters (mancs etc. were wathing that)
Some people have to believe that you are the ex poster, the infamous KPR. The reason for this is that they would otherwise have to accept that there are 2 KPResque people in the world and then their brains would explode.
The lad owns that place and will take some doing to get it of him, posted a few weeks back that he will have the captain role in a few years good to see that other people are seeing that to GO LUCAS
Is Lucas better than Mascherano now? He's slower and could never match those amazing slide tackles but he's much better in possession and he's developed Alonso's ability to draw a tackle - remember when players would regularly get red carded for challenges on Alonso? It was clever play and won us many matches - and I reckon he's better positionally.
Lucas has got some great sliding tackles under his belt so far this season. In all honesty, if Masch came back today I wouldn't wanna see him take Lucas' place. But you can image a Masch/Lucas partnership. I'm not saying Lucas is a better player, I wouldn't say he was a better player than De Jong...but I would have him on the team sheet before anyone else in that position. He's just a bit different and his attitude is 2nd to none.
I worked it out after about 2 hours. Talking of lost legends, anyone heard from Muppetfinder General recently? GKRK.
