It might be worth keeping an eye on new sources over the next few days.

I've just had a text conversation with an Italian ex-employer who says big money people are looking at the club.

He's in a different time zone so I couldn't keep him talking but I'll try again tomorrow. He's a mate of Warren Buffett so obviously very wealthy. There are loads of rumours going around but this is the first I've heard from a non football person.

    Fingers crossed.

Ive had various people mentioned but this wasn't one of them.

Sunderland are a prime target and too big for Donald imo. We have great facilities, paid for stadium and massive support.

Wolves, Bournemouth, Watford have all shown it's possible to be a PL club without spending ridiculous money.

Sunderland could easily be at that level.

If this were true (big if) then we would have to grow organically due to FFP.

We won't be near the Premier within 5 years regardless of the owner IMO.

It’s very true, although we would have the space for a bigger budget than most even at Championship level due to the scale of the club, we’d have to work with 2 year League One income being counted. We’d have to make it this season with the parachute payments visible to be able to spend.

For all the current owners can’t finance a big push, the brilliant cost cutting work they’ve done likely means we could spend a bit this year and next IF the investment was there. We’d likely get one shot at spending without coming undone by it.

I think the Championship is far too competitive nowadays to have a one shot balls out at getting promoted. If it all goes wrong we could bite ourselves in the arse royally.

Best case scenario for me is we need to get up this year (no excuses). Then I think 2 seasons in the Championship establishing ourselves before pushing for top half/playoffs in the 3rd and then full promotion push the year after.

It would be typical of the luck of this club that we land a new owner whose got loads of dosh and we can't spend it.
We would need to be as devious as Man City have been in manipulating the FFP and at least we have people in place now who appear to know what they're doing where Short and Maggie Byrne didn't.

I never posted this at the time but I was told that Amanda Staveley had been sniffing round Donald asking questions.

The info came from a London lawyer who's not interested in football but works for someone I did a couple of years back.

Yeah, that's why I didn't post anything as it would've attracted too much Mag attention.

She's supposed to be intent on roping her buddies into buying a club so she can act the big shot.

I wouldn't want her anywhere near the club tbh.

Does look more like a kudos thing, but then isn't that the same for most of the rich owners?

Issue with her is she’s a hedge fund manager.

They want to make money, they’d be looking to take money from the club.

THe concern would be it’s another quick flip and no stability, and she wouldn’t give a rats arse if she sold the club for a quick buck to a reprobate who’s gonna run it into the ground.

I’m with you 100%, not our club thanks.

Following press reports in recent days linking the club with a potential takeover, sources close to the club have confirmed to A Love Supreme that a takeover is progressing quickly and that US based investors Glenn Fuhrman, John Phelan, Robert Platek and Michael Dell are set to take over SAFC.

Michael Dell will be a passive investor supporting his business partners, who will be more heavily involved at boardroom level. A quick Google search confirms that collectively the wealth that the four Americans have makes them one of the richest forces in British football.

They have been looking at the possible acquisition of an English football club for some time as part of a wider sports investment strategy and have decided that Sunderland is the club for them after meetings arranged via a US football industry contact of Charlie Methven.

The club source said that “the board have been very open about looking to attract investment in the future, and they could see that this was too good an opportunity for the club to miss.”

The deal, which is understood to be around £40m, will see the consortium acquire the majority of the club with Donald and Methven remaining on the board.

The process has been going on for a couple of months and it's "hoped that the legal aspects, EFL etc will be sorted out in the next couple of weeks.”

    Ooooh

Is that Micheal S. Dell, as in Dell technologies, the 20th richest person in the world?
