I always find it amazing how rare it is for football clubs to actually go out of business. The amount of clubs that go in to administration yet some how find some one who is willing to pump a load of cash in to save them with no guarantee of any sort of return really is astounding. Big businesses and high street chains go out of business every day and no one even notices. For instance I didn't realise that Spud U Like had gone

Only 4 games into the season and I've already seen a Portsmouth season ticket nailed to a tree.

I thought to myself, "I'm having that!"

After all, you can never have enough nails, can you?

I’ve stolen that and changed it to Arsenal as the gooners in my group are always harping on about “good ole Arsenal”

If you haven't signed already, please sign the petition calling for an independent regulator for football (they can call it Ofball or Offoot)....

    https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/268665

I want it to get to at least 10k to see what BS the government comes back with.

I know Fifa are very anti-government involvement but if this regulator is independent, maybe that won't fall foul of their anti-government involvement agenda. But even if it did, I feel like some things are worth it on principle.

Plus for me personally, I'm sure I can pick someone else to support in the Euros if England are banned. Possibly whichever team makes the Euros from group D of the Nations League (Georgia, Macedonia, Kosovo or Belarus...)

I hope he has a gentle start but makes at least one very good save. Good luck big man.

Fraser saved a penalty, but it was scored on the rebound.

Bolton also on the threshold. Very, very sad for both communities.

The way I see it at Bolton, is their wonderful stadium could prove an attraction, particularly with sterling sliding downwards. It is in the NW so perhaps a North American owner might want to see this as a venue to launch US sports here. The ground is also an attractive venue for concerts in the summer. Furthermore, throw a roof over it, and who knows what could happen.

I also wonder how attractive a venue it could be for Saracens as the NW lacks a really big unión club in a heavily populated part of the country. Meanwhile, for BWFC they would be playing second fiddle to whoever comes in and takes over the assets.

D-Day for BWFC and Bury. Hope they both survive today and can somehow restore sanity to their finances. After all their off-field troubles, it would be fitting if Bury won their first match, even if it was against my beloved Pompey. Some things are just meant to be.

Today will stain football forever. Can't believe two L1 clubs are going to fold. Its absolutely disgusting that this has be allowed to happen. But allowed it has. Just what the hell is the FAPP test for? I had a quid in my pocket, could I have bought Bury? There's ownership here who need to suffer along with the every day people who will lose their jobs and wages. But the people governing the sport also need some accountability. This can never happen again. Better safeguards need implemented immediately. A truly sad day.

Always takes someone or something to break before anyone decides to fix things. What happened to prevention? The best and overall cheapest way in the end. Instead, if a club gets into difficulties, the ruling is that they are punished even more. Then, when it's too late, apart from a last ditch rescue everyone gets concerned.
