I've been here over two decades and haven't been shot yet, or even threatened with a gun. It's the disenfranchised people living in poverty who tend to be the victims usually.
Nothing to do with thinking it’s a nice place. Just a place I can get to the states I want to go to from.
Yeah, they have a big Delta hub there. Busiest airport in the world. Not too much to see in Atlanta. They have a nice aquarium, a mediocre theme park, a crappy zoo, and a semi decent coke museum. (The drink, not cocaine)
All the years I was going into the US, never had a problem with guns. I only ever fooked up twice, once in Miami (South Beach), I strayed into a part I really shouldn't have been in, lesson learned, and the other time was as I said getting lost in downtown LA.
I’m not great with driving over bridges for some weird reason, and I got a panic attack on the 7 mile bridge
The good thing about Atlanta is youre less likely to be shot there than Chicago. Personally, I'd start in New York and head South if had to pick one road trip, make sure to pass through DC and Virginia.
Another trip, easy to combine Grand Canyon, Hoover dam, Vegas, and then Utah and Salt Lake City (or west to LA) into one trip.
You will not like this story then......On one trip, I started to cross one of the key bridges, just as a storm was approaching. I looked to my left heading in a Key West direction and could see it coming in, me being clever thought I could out run it....no siree, mid bridge the fooker caught me, scariest shhite ever and you just had to hold your bottle.
It’s just time though. I’ve not much interest in massive cities. I’d want more time in the places I’d want to visit. Just adds distance. I’d want 3 weeks over there including driving place to place in a muscle car.
Couldn't stop mate, because visibility was virtually nothing, there was no lay-by, just stuck on the middle of the bridge, if I stopped I risked someone ploughing me from behind, so it was just slow down and pray, but keep moving to keep ahead of whatever might be behind me. Once i got to the end of the bridge I came of into an opening and regathered my nerves!
You ever watched diners, drive ins and dives? Better than Man v Food imho, but same theme more or less, makes you want to go to all these places in USA and have an epic road trip. In a more obvious theme, Rick Stein's Road to Mexico makes the idea of driving south through California into Mexico so appealing. (appreciate already been discussed)
Be awesome to do that in your bus mate. Doing a road trip in a massive winebaygo would be great over there. Just always wanted to do it in a muscle car.
What's the Highway 10 like from Jackonsville to LA or branching off to San Diego, looks like that 'sort of' coast route takes in some interesting places ie New Orleans through to El Paso?
Better in a car, would take forever in this. Although, all facilities are right here under the one roof. The bog doesn't work at the moment though. Not that it's needed for anything other than a middle of the night piss of course.
Never done it. I think I-10 goes all the way from Jacksonville Florida through the South to California somewhere. I've only been on the stretch in Florida which is redneckville.
