I don’t watch it generally. Or any other tv programme. May turn it on if I’m home if there is a wid on the show.
I had to stop watching Man v Food cos I'd just spend 30 minutes salivating, wondering if I could do the challenge, and then have to make myself a 'scooby snack'.
One of my life goals is to do a road trip of the USA. Loose plan is fly to Atlanta then drive via Tennessee all the southern states and finish in LA and do as many man vs food recommended places .
I bought her one of those ridiculously expensive Kitchenaid food mixers a couple of years back. What an inspired investment, as she loves the thing and it helps her make some absolutely boss cakes. Her chocolate and cherry cake could win that ****ing show, it’s seriously top notch.
Never done route 66 as such, but flown into Chicago, which is normally the starting point i think for it, rather than Atlanta. Always remember Chicago airport more than any other due to concourse B - C United Terminal 1....also featured in a music vid. Done Memphis inc Beale St and Elvis......and eventually managed to get lost in LA....and that really is a place you do not want to get lost!
Large chunks of Route 66 are now virtually dead road aren’t they due to the Interstate? I need to do another US roadtrip.
Probably, I think you can get the usual guides of the best things to do on the route. I've done a couple of road trips that were better than that imho, one being San Francisco to San Diego but scenic route. Another was over in Virginia and the states down there to South Carolina. Inc Charlottesville and Williamsburg (Busch Gdns) - Beach etc.
My only fear of America other than flying there is everyone having guns. Always wanted for some reason to go to Alabama. New Mexico too. Plus New Orleans.
Pretty sure there’s plenty of it that’s not really used anymore and all of the diners etc have closed as a result, so the trip has lost some of its charm. I’ve also done the San Fran coastal road, ****ing amazing piece of coastline that, truly incredible. We cut inland before San Diego and went up into the mountains and then through Death Valley to Vegas. Did a boss trip down the Florida Keys a few years back in a Mustang Convertible for a laugh, barmy trip that was, Key West is a Piskie paradise.
Legendary television, that show I think Adam Richman had to decline a 5th series because he was sure a heart attack would have been on the menu.
It winds from Chicago, to LA More than 2000 miles all the way So it wouldn't take in any of the Southern States.
I used to love Florida Keys, used to stop at Islamorada on the way down to Key West, could actually dump the car and chill out there. Spent New Years Eve there once, got totally wrecked that night. Also stayed on the Everglades, but the hotel that was in the middle of it when I stayed, got destroyed by a hurricane and never rebuilt.
Meh, no point going West of Tennessee... You'll go several days driving without seeing anything decent. There again, Atlanta is a horrible place to drive through too.
