You must be the only person who didn't think Bergkamp played poorly when he first signed for Arsenal

There we go again all I & others have is that those players took time to settle in . No one ever thought they were going to turn out to be bad players and as you say the signs of their greatness was there. But until they settled into playing in the Premiership, their over all play was fairly average.

Now be a good little boy & stop pretending to be sumfink you clearly ain't <ok>

Have to agree with this. You do tend to rub people up the wrong way jayram.

OK, back on topic lads. I think that it is perfectly reasonable for new signings to take a little time to get used to a new club (and in some circumstances a new league). If the whole team is settled beforehand and a quality player is introduced into a smooth running system then sometimes they can make an instant impact, for example, Aguero. However, this is not the case at Arsenal. We have offloaded a number of players and two key ones. We have also brought in not one or two but potentially 5 first team players. To expect them to be scoring screamers from outside the box, rounding keepers or making defence-splitting through balls immediately is a bit unrealistic. I think these things will come in time but for the first few games of their Arsenal careers all we can ask of them is to give 100% in every game and I believe each of our new signings have given that. They are good, experienced players and I believe they will show more and more quality as the games go on.

To be honest, although I disagree with many of Jayram's views concerning Arsenal I do agree with him on this. I do find it rather irritating when i see that 10 more posts have been added to a thread on an interesting subject only to find that they are all inane 'banter' and private jokes about aspects of goonercymraeg's personal life. Let's keep it about the footy people!

    Agreed <ok>

We've strengthened in every area that Wenger said he would do so.

I doubt very much wether that is at all true and we have yet to see how they will settle in at the club.

There is always bound to be an element of negativity when a club repeatedly sells it's best players and only replaces them with either 17 year old kids, Frech League 2 rejects or 'over the hill' temporary substituted e.g Lehman, Campbell, Silvestre which you have to admit has been Wengers 'stock-in-trade' until recently.

Even i am prepared to give the new signings a fair opportunity to settle in and i hope they succeed.

The negativity will evaporate when we see positive results and the prospect of winning something not continous excuses from the manager and the Board.

It cannot be disputed that we have had worse players since we left Highbury and that is despite a near doubling of club turnover and profit (even after stadium loan repayments).

All fans want is to see committed team performances and players giving of their best at a competitive level, maybe we will see more of this in the near future.

I for one appreciate Jayram's views and insights.

Cym just dislikes him because he has 'RAM' in his name and sees him as competition for his wooly pootang!

    :p
