i know its america, i couldnt think of an equivilant brit but the scenario applies, as us brits supported his anti war stance too, largely anyway
Best historical example of the stiff upper lip. Duke of wellington to Colonal Maitland, during the battle of Waterloo; "by God sir, I believe you've lost your leg." Colonal Maitland (looking down); "by god sir, i believe I have."
That reminds me of another thing. British tradition. Do you know how many times it's served us well. The only bad example i can think of is our WW2 battleships. Rate of fire was deemed more important than accuracy, or armour, because rate of fire is what did the job during waterloo.
do you believe that to be true? or is like the duke of death and his biographer in the movie unforgiven?
Explain. Haven't seen that movie (I assume you don't mean The Unforgiven starring and directed by Clint Eastwood).
He has the right movie, it was that dobber english bob who made up a load of lies when writing a biography
https://rogerhollander.wordpress.com/tag/cassius-clay/ http://www.livestrong.com/article/447218-facts-about-cassius-marcellus-clay/#ixzz1Y7Aq8wbo He was'nt seen as a hero then at all. He was called a coward by the media (and most of the white community) and shunned, the Black community for the most part did see him as a hero but that had always been the case anyway. I suspect that he would have been lauded for his stand by more people today than he was back then.
