I'm not convinced this will work but do you think maybe we should consider a new formation to compensate for the loss of Santon? I really don't trust Raylor at LB, especially with some like Le Zog running at him tomorrow. I can't see him making personel changes but maybe a formation switch could help. What do you lot think of the possibility of a 3-5-2? It would also help out our midfield who look overrun at times and should increase support to the strikers. I'm not saying this is the ideal solution, but it COULD work.

I think I'd rather have Fergie where Jonas is and play Jonas behind the strikers instead of Obertan but not sure Fergie is fully fit yet.

I personally don't like this formation. And I think we should drop Raylor and start Ferguson LB and go for a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Simpson would get slaughtered at centre back, would only work with Williamson.

The one thing that strikes me immediately is that I wouldn't be particularly comfortable seeing Simmo in a more central role. I agree that the left side needs to be addressed before tomorrow, SWP tore Raylor apart on Monday and The Zog is twice the player he is, he'll have a field day if adequate support isn't provided.

I'd maybe go with best and Ober up top, and stick Gosling in the middle, as I feel we are really going to have to scrap to get anything from this game, and pace on the counter may be our only real threat. Ala Han Solo, I have a bad feeling about tomorrow. Gaps were starting to appear against QPR, and with more quality we would have been soundly beaten. I can see Idbangthewhore having a big influence.

If we did want to play for a draw though, I'd recommend something like this:

    Krul
    Simpson Taylor Colo Ferguson
    Raylor Tiote Gosling Cabaye Jonas
    Best

But I'd prefer a more balanced approach, like this:

    Krul
    Simpson Taylor Colo Ferguson
    Tiote Cabaye
    Obertan Marveaux Jonas
    Best

I would prefer that too but I can't see Pardew doing that, I don't think he trusts Fergie at LB in a PL game away from home yet.

I could see Simpson doing okay on the right side of a three, he's quick enough and is decent in the air also he reads the game well. His main weakness as a full back is that he shows wingers inside, not a problem at CB.

I don't like that formation, but would like to see Marveaux in the position behind the striker(s)

This against Villa, they will play 3 in midfield, we will be doing a-lot of defending again! If no Ferguson I would play Jonas back there with Marveux in midfield.

Yeah, he should be back up CB /LB, and should probs play LB ahead of Raylor

Probably the fact that the guy is made of glass, and isn't ready for the Premiership. He's barely played under any of the managers that've been here since he signed. It's not just Pardew.

This all over. Come on Pardew. For once, just choose a good formation which we all want. It's exactly what we need. You should have learned your lesson from getting overrun in midfield against QPR, so get it sorted.

He never picks what I expect, I bet you Shola plays as a lone striker and Raylor keeps his place, comfortably the two worst players v QPR.

That's the team we want and need out there, but will common sense prevail? I wouldn't be sorry if I never saw Shola wear a B&W shirt again.

Think it'll be more a 4-3-3 at home.
