QPR boss sends Taarabt warning NEIL Warnock has told Adel Taarabt he must keep up his good form if he wants to earn a new deal at QPR. The mecurical Moroccan wants an improved contract at Loftus Road to bring him in line with top-earners Joey Barton and Shaun Wright-Phillips. But boss Warnock has warned Taarabt he must sustain his current level until Christmas before the club considers offering him fresh terms. "A new contract? There are plenty before him - me included!" said Warnock. "Adel has to do his talking on the field. There are a lot of people behind the scenes who have said things, but the only way to answer things is to play well. "He has no excuse now. He has a team capable of giving him the ball in dangerous areas and he's got to perform well. There are a lot of good cases for contracts as and when we see fit, but I don't see any new contracts for anyone before Christmas. "We've all got things to prove and we've got to do it consistently. When you've had a good game for an hour, you don't start spouting. You start spouting when you've got nine or 10 goals coming up to Christmas." Mackie, 25, is expected to be told by a specialist that he can finally resume full training following his recovery from the broken leg he suffered during Januaryâs FA Cup match against Blackburn. Rangers plan to then immediately select him for a reserve game, as his overall fitness is excellent after several weeks of conditioning training. All that is required is the nod from the specialist at next weekâs appointment. The player was recently forced to delay his comeback because he was still feeling some pain in the leg and his surgeon was not satisfied that he was ready for full-contact training. That pain has now gone and Rangers believe Mackie could be back in the first-team squad by the middle of next month. Mackie, who had scored nine goals for QPR and been capped by Scotland when he suffered his injury, was recently included in boss Neil Warnockâs 25-man Premier League squad. iReader
How things have changed so quickly! Last summer NW was chasing Taarabt all over Morocco in an attempt to get him to sign up. Now he is basically telling him we can do without, thank you. And who among us would have recommended not extending his contract immediately had the opportunity arisen just a few weeks ago? A good situation for the club to be in but I personally would still get him to extend soon if the demands are in keeping with the new wage structure.
Thats good news about Jamie and im glad there playing hard ball with Adel,he was great Monday night and if he keeps it up then he will deserve the increase but lets wait and see, agree with Neil he deserves an increase, along with the new board there's renewed optimism about the place
It's all PR hype AD is on £7.50 an hour and that's above the min wage lucky bugger I dream of making that
Would say that this is a general broadside to all in the squad who are thinking of bringing their bowls up looking for more. Any one know if Kenny has been sorted out as he was looking for a new contract too pre-season?
Let's hope that NW's word encourage Adel to prove that he is worth a better deal. he hasbetter players around him so I can only see this as good news for the club. Looking forward to seeing Jamie M in the premier league in next few weeks. Also, I am sure that Paddy got his new deal at the same time Shaun Derry got an extension. After all, they both deserved it.
Just glad that it is not thought 'motivational' in my industry for my terms of employment (and discussions about them) to be discussed at a press conference. Not at dig at Neil or the club - I know it's the so called 'industry' but I can't understand how it benefits anybody, except for giving us lot something to gossip about.
Dear, oh, dear! Actually, I do want you to extend his contract, because it means that we get more when you are eventually forced to sell him.
totally agree with warnock got to prove yourself & then sit down & discuss, but if he carries only playing like he did in first half monday i can't see a problem with his contract come jan.
