I'd take 1-0's over a loss any day but I would prefer us to aspire to score more than a solo effort every game.
I think in an ideal world everybody would love us to score loads of goals, but we don't have the players to do it. Next season should be interesting as I think we will have more money freed up to buy in the sort of players that could help us play a more attacking style maybe. Pearson is getting 100 percent out of the players he has apart from maybe Koren, who i think is showing his age a bit having played and captained his country in a few internationals lately, we're ninth in the league with a lot of improvement still to come from a great bunch of mostly young lads. Lets get behind the lads and appreciate where we are, instead of wishing for unlikely goal avalanches. UTT!
Well said matey. But I dont think asking for more than one goal a game is too much to ask. I for one would not expect an avalanch of goals per game, just two maybe? Is asking for two every other game too much to ask?? Preferably at home !!! Pretty please... lol
Now you word it like that it sounds fairer, before it sounded like you want 4 per game. I don't expect much from the Portsmouth game to be honest, a maximum goals return of three. 0-0, 1-0, 1-1 or 2-1.
I'd love to agree but with our recent goalscoring record I can only predict our fourth 1-0 win of the season.
My score prediction (on another thread) is for a 2-0 City win (Waghorn + MacLean) or poss a 2-1. Would that suit you TIGERSHULL?
I dunno how people can see out scoring the opposition & keeping a clean sheet as a bad thing. I'm sure Leeds fans would give their right arm to keep a clean sheet. We all knew defence would be a priority over out and out attack, when Pearson became our manager. But the attack is getting there. At least we're creating more chances than usual. Also if we thrash teams off the park all the time, we'll become complacent and eventually our confidence and even luck will suddenly drain away, once the initial purple patch has ended. Sometimes City fans will whinge at anything.
I think with all this talk of 1-0's in the air, everybody should be backing a 1-0 to either us or them, make sense doesn't it! Probably be 4-0 now I said that.
What an exciting contest, but in the end it was THETIGERSHULL who just ground out a result against DaredtoDream!
I think we'd all love us to win like man united are at present. But at the end of the season it's the wins that matter (unless GD comes into effect) so if we win then i guess we can't really complain, we've achieved the object of the game. Our goal scoring will change at some point i'm sure.
I can see us opening Portsmouth up tomorrow, we can't score a goal a game in EVERY match, so I think we will kick it off with a 2-0 win. With regards to what McKenna said, I agree. If we won 1-0 every time, we'd go up as champions. I honestly don't care how we win, just that we win. If we win 3-0 then great, but I'll be just as happy with 1-0 because, unlike Rugby, you don't get more points for scoring more. Now, if we finished 7th and missed out by -1 GD, I may well bung the aforementioned statement up my arse.........
Mckenna also said :"It's when you're not up to scratch and you manage to grind out a result, those are the ones that really stand you in good stead." That puts the article in perspective, and perhaps a genuine acknowledgement that we had a stuttering start to the season. The team are now turning the corner - of course there will be the odd hic cup - but 1-0s stabilise the ship, build confidence (especially and hopefully amongst some of our flakey fans) and continue forward and upwards momentum.
