I believe in god but I'm not your 'a' typical god botherer - My beliefs have mainly stemmed from smoking copious amounts of ganja in my formative years. It's nice to form your own opinions, but the atheists tend to be the biggest zealots of them all and can't seem to have a rational debate about it. Saying that, born agains (Most religions actually) telling you you're not going to heaven because you're not one of them? Pish. Live and let live and all that. If not, **** 'em.

I believe in evolution and religion. That's not contradictory. That's just the way it is!

    Yours,

    Jesus H.

and the Democrats are under serious pressure from the tea party movement which is worse than many things coming out of the middle east right now. Anyway my point is that we are only finding our own secular feet and shouldn't be too quick to point fingers at those who are barely behind us.

Obviously this is wrong but it wasn't so long ago that our own culture had similar traits. If I want to analyze the difference between cultures then I would probably find wealth and education are the main variables, not race and religion.

The tea party movement is certainly not worse than events in the Middle East. For instance they do not stone/torture/behead/beat up dissidents/victims of crime. They get a bad press from a lot of journalists but those journalists were all too willing to excuse similar/worse behaviour when directed at Bush. They have the right to dissent no matter how obnoxious you might find them

I don't think wealth and education make much difference

After all, a lot of Nazi leaders were rich and educated (Goebbels had a PhD) but still gave orders for mass murder. Osama Bin Laden is wealthy and still wages jihad. Mobsters are rich but still commit crimes. The Saudi royal family are very rich but still promote jihad

    .......................................................

Plenty of different cultures m8,most are of interest am sure............but one which supports stoning women to death for adultery, chopping peoples hands off for theft etc...........that's just one religion,n a state endorsed religion in some countries.

    Neways,it's late......bed for me. <ok>

Wealth and education make a huge difference to society. There are always going to be exceptions, such as the case of highly wealthy, highly educated Tony Blair converting to catholicism - but have no doubt the UK is one of the most atheist countries on earth because of it's wealth and superb level of education. There are people who believe in chopping off hands and arms and obviously that is repulsive to us but again it wasn't that long ago that western crhistian society engaged in the same thing. By all means encourage the end of such barbaric behaviour but don't blame it on religion when many similar things have been done, in the past, in the name of your own religion.I was brought up an Irish Catholic being dragged to church at every opportunity from within a Christian Brothers primary school. It took me going to a Grammar school, mostly (but not completely) outside the reach of the church to be educated properly.

Once you see the true sense of natural selection as well learn the laws of physics there leaves little room for a god which has quite literally absolutely no proof of existence. Of course being a lover of science if the almighty was to lower himself from heaven right now and call me a bastard I would take that evidence seriously and conclude that I was indeed completely wrong - but the fact remains there is absolutely no evidence of a superior being - and let me stress, absolutely 100% no evidence at all that something higher than us exists.

So hopefully you can see that watching a load of grown up adults squabble over who's religion is the most wrong seems a little bit ******ed to me.

    >>>back from the bed (dead ?)

I totally agree, all religion is bolloxs.Caused more war and suffering than anything else.

IMHO,it's (religion) just a ****ing emotional crutch that people turn to,because they're scared of death........n obviously the various different faiths use this as a "selling tool".

PS...Blair n his witch wife, vile money grabbing frauds.

    Is the UK really atheist?

You have the Northern Ireland and Scotland Catholic/Protestant beliefs, and, according to the last census, 37.3 million in England/Wales say they are Christian. This excludes Jews/Muslims/Hindus/Sikhs/Buddhists

Your attempt at a beard just can't be worse than Edge's at a 'tache.

That's debatable. I would have posted a picture of my jakey style scruffery but I had a shave at half-time of the Old Firm game.
