I swear Diego is the Utd Ginge. Ginge ****ed himself big time earlier as it goes. Tried saying Lo Celso was having a mare and he weren’t even on the pitch at the time .
Positives... 1. We got a point 2. Jamie Redknapp crying cos it was a "harsh but apparently correct" decision. 3. Lucas Moura giving Pochettino selection headaches. 4. Not getting battered. 5. Lamela 6. Our away support 7. Getting lucky with the the possible 1st half penalty Negatives... 1. 1st half performance 2. We are no where near city's level 3. Eriksen was poor 4. Pochettino's comments that the transfer window beinv open in Europe hurting us and affecting the team. 5. Our defending as a team. The weird 1. Pochettino not celebrating our goals. The hugely enjoyable 1. The city player's disappointment 2. The City fans being gutted 3. Other fans mocking us then having to pretend they weren't really bothered after all.
I’d agree with most of that but would add Dave’s second half to positives, he became a real colossus and kept us in the game. Negatives - I’d add KWP, Rose, Winks, Sissoko and Kane to join Eriksen in terms of poor individual performances, albeit probably harsh on Kane seeing as no one could string a couple passes together to get the ball to him! I’d also throw Poch's selection in there too, felt like it just invited City to bombard us.
Kane got nothing today but I put that down to Eriksen not turning up. That would have been a good game for Dele and Son, today. Despite them stats I thought N'Dombele was average today for some reason. Wtf is wrong with Poch?
The whole team were just poor in my opinion. Defence were gash (Dave aside in second half), midfielders were gash, attacking mids were gash and therefore Kane was gash. It really is somewhat of a miracle we got a point. This weren’t even one of those games where you can sit there and say “we had to defend brilliantly” because we didn’t, we were just lucky City only managed to convert 2 of their 30 chances. As for Poch... it’s weird. He’s been backed heavily by the chairman, so far we’ve not lost anyone we’ve wanted to lose (granted that can change) yet he seems to be coming across discontent. His selections have been dumb too... Almost as if he’s deliberately trying to draw criticism for some reason. Not exactly ideal.
I thought your first post was silly, but credit where it's due mate...you have taken silliness to previously unknown levels. If you think that losing 4-1 is a similar thing to going go the home of the champions (who had won all their home matches in the past 8 months and only concede 8 goals in all that time) and getting a 2 all draw after surviving a "last minute winner" ... (for the 2nd time in 4 months) then you have no grasp of football. Btw...so was SAF to celebrate drawing away to reigning champions?
There's a word missing in that but I am not sure what it is. Maybe I am coming across wrong here, I am always happier when we don't get beat than when we do but never think of it as successful, we avoided defeat whoopee.
It’s a small success and those can prove vital at the end of the season. Case in point, if we’d have gotten that point last season we’d have finished 3rd instead of 4th. Granted that would’ve ‘only’ notched an extra £2m in prize money but nonetheless 3rd > 4th and £34m > £32m.
Yeah ... missing word was wrong...as in was SAF wrong to.... football is about that immediate emotion which, for spurs fans, went from being gutted to being very happy. The drama of a last minute VAR decision like that is fantastic when it goes your way. That could be a huge point for us and (as you can see if you read the thread) there is a lot of realistic appraisal of our performance today. To get a point when seconds earlier you were gutted cos you lost in the 93rd minute is ALWAYS going to have fans celebrating. You point is killjoy imho. Reminds me of when we were playing Arsenal at the Emirates in 2008. It was our 10th game of the season. We were bottom, with just 5 points. We had scored just 5 goals and had sacked our manager. In the 88th minute we were 4-2 down, their fans were singing about us going down, and mercilessly taking the piss (as we would all do)...and were singing about going top of the league. We scored 2 goals in the last 4 minutes and got a 4 all draw and we were criticised for celebrating which is something I will never get. Context is everything...we would have not been celebrating if it weren't for VAR ... we would simply be grateful that city were not able to take their chances. That's the point you are missing ...context.
And you are missing the point I jumped in on. Yes, getting a draw from a deserved (or expected) loss is enjoyable, gives a great sense of relief and is worth celebrating. It should never be classed as a success unless you win though.
If it were the players I'd get your point ... you criticised the mentality of a fan for celebrating... like I said...comes across as s kill joy attitude. You also compared it to alosing 4-1... Anyhow, I am off now
Given who we were playing it was a successful day. If it had been Old Trafford then a point would've been disappointing.
Eriksen was rubbish again in a big game. DH you always say the whole team were bad without taking into account that without the 'playmaker' it will not work will it. You can't have it both ways, he is the playmaker and he makes no play we don't play. Is Winks supposed to fill in for him?
And the panel gives that one a score of : 0.5 (on the Diego scale) . < must try harder > (MUCH MUCH harder)
They were both poor. Opponents like this are rarely played, but conversely they provide the most brutal objective analysis of the team.
Poor decisions are happening VAR or no VAR if that last disallowed goal had been for Spurs I would have been very disappointed. On the other hand something should be done about City's cynical fouling, as soon as their opponents move on a break they are brought down. Instead of making nonsense rules about handballs why not sort out the CLEAR & OBVIOUS cheating going on all the time.
