In the Great St Wilfred plenty of them are priced pretty skinny for a race of this type. Summerghand has been threatening to win one of these races and he ran a cracker in the Stewards Cup when 4th and in the Wokingham when 5th. Both times he finished well and the slower ground may help him peg back the field in the closing stages today. With SIX places up for grabs each-way I felt he represented a good each-way bet at 9/1 and he seems likely to run well again today. Tough race of course but hopefully he can swoop late and at least grab a place in the first half dozen home. 3.15 Ripon Summerghand 9/1 EW 1-2-3-4-5-6 places. Lahore, Musicka and Dakota Gold have tied in form and if one goes close the others should be thereabouts so it was 6X 50p combined Tricasts for the crack. 3.15 Ripon No's 8, 15, 16 combined Tricasts for a giggle.
Have to disagree with you there. The lad was riding it to the line but the horse clearly idled in front and got collared in the last two yards by the winner. If he had given it another couple of cracks of the whip he would have been stood down and there is no guarantee that the horse would have responded and held on.
Major gamble landed by Channon there. Dunno the reason for the jock change but it could have made no difference. Why didn't I follow
well, like a few days ago,we have the same state of mind, grendel.i think, the stewards cup form is the key here, and its really working out well now.as you say,SUMMERGHAND ran a cracker there, and shouldnt be too far away again.but, yes, fiercely competitive race. newbury,3 35: HEY GAMAN is a horse i really like a lot.has a great attitude, and should run his usual honest race once more.
I went to increase my stake on Glorious Journey, but by mistake backed Safe Voyage instead Says it all really!
SUMMERGHAND ran very well again,so no excuses. as for HEY GAMAN,he was bitterly disappointing there, zero response.i hope, something comes to light in the next days, because that was surely not his true form..
Good second for Librisa Breeze at Newbury. That may have been a career-best effort, although it was a sub-standard renewal. At Ripon, Lancelot Du Lac was clearly on the wrong side of the track (but that is how it works in those big sprints), was never in a position to challenge and it is hard to make a case for any of them having given the winner a race.
Poor run from Hey Gaman. Funnily enough almost backed glorious journey..but didn't! Was convinced I was collecting on chef de troupe...still not believing what I saw..jump at last didn't help..
I can only assume that Hey Gaman floundered on the ground. Although he has won on soft it was at a much lower level and the nag today for betting him was the soft ground. Glorious Journey was backed and the money was spot on. I couldn't touch him at the shorter prices but well done anyone who got him. Summerghand ran another belter and it was clear from a long way out that he was going to be placed in the first six for the each-way bet to be landed. Dakota Gold won with plenty in hand and my Tricast horses were 1st, 4th and 6th, so decent runs if no cigar. My French selection was second, so place money at 18/1 meant a profit on a tricky, muddy, Saturday. John Gosden's Terebellum won tidily after being disappointing the time before when Evens favourite in the Abingdon Stakes behind Manuela De Vega. She was well in command today and the favourite Etoile never landed a blow at silly odds of 8/5. Terebellum was clearly awry last time and she can build on this win in the Autumn, especially as she handles soft ground. Olivier Peslier was not at his best on my selection Mutamakina, getting trapped on the rail before staying on well but she would not have won anyway, looking as if she needs a mile and a half now. Still a great effort at 18/1 each-way, which was well in excess of the SP of less than 7/1. The UK bookies underestimated her but, as ever, it was place money only and Abbot Ale, rather than Champagne with the evening meal. Also in France Andre Fabre's Tropbeau completed a hat trick since her debut 6th place. She handed out a good thumping to Mark Johnston's Walk In Marrakesh, who was seeking a 4 timer today. Last time up Walk In Marrakesh had Sweet Solera winner West End Girl back in 5th place and with the Fabre filly having her a comfortable 3 and three quarters of a length in arrears in 3rd place today shows a good level of talent from the improving Tropbeau. Today's runner-up Marieta could not lay a glove on the daughter of Showcasing who landed this Group 2 in dominant fashion. Tropbeau still looked a bit green and only really got going in the closing stages. She looks a useful prospect and I would imagine they will be looking towards a Group 1 race for her soon.
