It looked to me as though the steward had grabbed his arm and pulled him back, causing him to lose his footing on the wet turf. Surely they must know who the guy is ffs, they dragged him away!?

I think it was deliberate. If you listen to the audio on the clip you can hear the guy shouting "Yo Adrian" as he's running towards him.

I also think the style of kick would've been different. You can tell the way he's taken everyone out that he's initially stacked on his arse and just followed through due to the surface. If he were purposely going in to hurt them he'd do a proper jump and hit them with a dropkick.
