Archer took 6-27 from 12 overs for Sussex second 11 today as well has hitting a hundred. Fitness proved, get him into the team.
Spot on IMHO . When an Aussie got injured in the world cup ( can't remember who ) Turned out the entire b team + the Test team were over here , so they would have had plenty of options . Not saying England don't have support in Oz when we go there , but to that level of support ? Also , like it or not . Cricket in OZ is much bigger than it is here , so the roots up competition is far more competitive ( IMHO )
Helps they only have like 6 state teams over there so the quality is so much higher. 18 counties here mean the quality is much lower which is why players struggle to make the step up, especially batsmen as they don’t face quality bowling every week
Play set for 3.30pm, though more rain predicted for later. Sunny tomorrow, then rain Fri and Sat and sun Sun. This should play right into the ODI England's hands for a draw with a psychological win.
If this is a draw, and the weather forecast says it will be, we have to win two of the last three tests. Tough ****ing ask
Numerologists, shine your balls. England have named seven players whose first names start with the letter J. The last seven worldwide test matches which lost the first day's play all ended in a result, though any subsequent days weren't mentioned in the data I saw. J is the tenth letter in the alphabet., If England get ten men out, they don't have to worry about how to get Smith out. Eh? EH? Numbers, man, it's what the universe runs on.
In other positive numbers news to temper Roy's pitiful three-ball stand, England's scores after being put in to bat first in Lord's Tests since 2007: 553-5 dec, 593-8 dec, 377, 505, 446, 486, 474-8 dec, 575-9 dec and 389.
Still six Js left. Lords resplendent in red for the Ruth Strauss Foundation. And how many times have Liverpool been European champions? It's all connected.
I don't know what this is, as anything Twittery is blocked at my current location, but I suspect it's Jimmy Anderson looking fitter. cricket.com.au (@cricketcomau) This is either exciting vision or worrying vision depending on who you support... #Ashes pic.twitter.com/1uoNBS5dgR
