Can't complain about Wyke's condition, looks like a racehorse

Good for him and McNulty to get off the mark already.

There will be those who will say that they didn’t care about this game, but we got a good result and hopefully the squad has gained a confidence booster too.

Are we gonna win the cup? No, but this game came at the right time for us and can hopefully help the team push on in the league.

Better tempo and attitude by the whole team, must build on this, stick with 4/4/2 and get at Pompey from the first minute.

Aye if he goes back to three CBs after that then factually he's a tit.

It's not a magic solution but no doubt it worked better.

Boyer can now concentrate on the league, where they are doing OK to be fair.

Is Gooch ok ? We can draw Newcastle !, but avoid Leeds, Swansea, Hull, Carlisle biggest shock, and is it a straight draw now ?

    PLAYER RATINGS: Accrington 1-3 Sunderland
    Lee Burge - 6/10

Didn't have much to do. His kicking was alright and he dealt with his crosses well.
    Luke O’Nien - 6/10
Supported Chris Maguire well when he had to, but quiet otherwise.
    Alim Ozturk - 4/10
    Poor, hoofed the ball consistently.
    Jordan Willis - 6/10
Rarely beaten, much better than the past two weeks.
    Conor McLaughlin - 5/10
Looks poor on the right of a back three, but even worse as a left back.
    Grant Leadbitter - 5/10
Silly aimless long balls consistently, doesn't add anything to the team for me at all.
    Max Power - 7/10
Passed the ball well enough and kept us ticking over. Always available for the ball and always tried to drive forward.
    Chris Maguire - 5/10
Poor, expected much more. Lost the ball countless times and looked well off the pace.
    Lynden Gooch- 7/10
Drove well at the defence and released it at the right times. Much better so far from Lynden.
    Marc McNulty- 7/10
Goal and an assist - good evening for McNulty in attack.
    Will Grigg- 5/10
Unlucky not to have bagged himself a goal first half, but won nothing all game and was nullified with ease by Stanley. Once again goalless.

    (SUB) Aiden McGeady - 7/10
What a goal son! What a goal!
    (SUB) Charlie Wyke - 7/10
Brilliant finish to seal the victory.
    (SUB) George Dobson - n/a
Brought on too late to make an impact.

Wasn’t arsed if we went out but always delighted to see the lads win.

3 lads off the mark including two strikers is a massive bonus, winning good for confidence, and maybe Jack gets the picture from it.
