He doesn't understand football but it's interesting to read his comments (TWF) I think we should do a poll on who thinks ***an is better than Koren, that should sort the wheat from the chaff on here!
Another brilliant post by our esteemed moderator. Even if McShane and Oli were fit I doubt they'd be playing, there's no evidence to suggest that they would. I said Garcia's in limbo (as in, nobody knows what's going on with him), not that he's finished, but please don't let my actual words get in the way of your well thought out replies.
I have to say I think Percy talks a lot of sense at times and I'm with him on most things. Just been honest.
im gonna have to dissagree with you on this imo they both would be playing oli i think might be able to help us andd even when Mcshane played shocking he still seemed to make the team last season with some good results from him now and again from what i remember!
Really? I seem to remember McShane being shipped out to Barnsley. Oli might be able to help us (In fact, he would because our midfield is poor), but I doubt he'll get given the chance, maybe 1 or 2 appearances before going somewhere on loan in January.
Its not a case of faces not fitting, we had a lot of substandard players at the club or those with totally unprofessional attitudes. Daws would be a regular for example if he was not in decline and Barmby has been around for ages now, Myhill and Turner would be still at the club if not for the gross mismanagement that was going on before. The good players left and we were left with the dregs.
when he came back he played a few games definatly remember him coming on at bristol as i want happy about it haha and thats the way im thinking with oli is get him playing and try drum up some interest ready for the january window i doubt he will be here come end of season unless he pulls something amazing out of the hat!
Macca put in a good performance against Liverpool and he was unfortunate to get injured when he did, he was in NP's plans at that point and hopefully still is. Not sure on Oli, make what you will from the report in the paper today. I don't get why some people are so het up about NP bringing in his own players in place of the left over PL players, i mean, it's not like Zayatte, Gardner, Folan, ***an, Halmosi, Ghilas are top Championship players for anyone else is it? Against which we have the likes of Rosenior, Chester, Stewart, Fryatt, Brady and an improving Hobbs and Mckenna replacing said players.
My thoughts exactly. Had we got rid of the likes of Ricketts and Turner then i could understand people's gripes, but the players we got rid of were average players on high wages, where these players have gone afterwards only goes to prove that, or they didn't have the desire to play here. I know the team isn't fantastic but it's streets ahead of what NP was having to work with this time last year.
***an over Koren every time . FFS that 's in the same league as your Boothroyd comment . Are you deliberately trying to make yourself look a clueless **** ? If you are then hats off to you because you're doing a sterling job.
If Koren put the effort in then it'd obviously be Koren, but he doesn't, at the moment he's just a wasted space on the teamsheet.
The underlying issue is that ***an was a bit useless. It's all well and good putting effort into something, but if you aren't good at it, it doesn't make a blind bit of difference. ***an had pace, effort and not much else. Anybody could run around for 90 minutes and run up to players and harry them, but it's what they do once they got the ball that mattered and ***an didn't do enough. His finishes were nothing spectacular (although I think his goal at Bolton was the key to us staying up) and his crossing was a bit poor. It isn't fair to compare him to Koren, who is a more complete player and nor a striker or a winger (even though he is consistantly played out wide). Koren lacks pace and effort, but he makes up for it with better finishing, creativity and passing ability, hence why he is at the club and ***an is not.
I have to admit that he 's hardly setting the world alight this season but he still produces the odd bit of class . Granted it's not all that often . ***an on the other hand was all hell and no notion . Anyway Perry since when did you extol the virtues of having a team full of grafters ? I always thought you preferred cultured , beautiful football which is definitely more Koren than ***an .
Thank you. NP said McShane was in contention to start after his impressive performance against Liverpool, he said just yesterday that Oli is nearing a return and once back would be in the squad. Garcia is out of contract, yet the club are still paying him and he's at the training ground every day, if we weren't considering give him a new deal, he wouldn't be. Those opinions are based on the evidence, which I find generally more accurate than those based on a blind hatred of an individual(or a pair/trio of individuals).
I think Oli is a lot better than most of our Midfielders such as McKenna and Koren so I would definitely not refer to him as a dreg, nor is McShane for that matter. I'll still with my own theory of NP been quick to off load most of the Brown era players and showing an unwillingness to play those that remain, irrelevant of quality.
Manuel What about the likes of Duke & ***an then? Would Duke not be a better option than Basso or Gulasci? Would ***an not still be able to do a job for us? I think so. Also wages for these would not have been an issue.
Disagree also with these comments. ***an did far more than you described and most of the time he did the dirt work, breaking up play and yes, one of his best attritbutes was getting in the faces of oppositions players, WHICH WORKED. He was an aggressive player which we massively lack in this squad. I read a thread on another Championship sides forum this week which talked about how the only times their team has ever been promoted was when they had HARD MEN playing in their side, the likes of Vinny Jones etc. I feel this is the same for us too, we got promoted with some scrappers, McShane, Ashbee, ***an and at times Dawson displays these types of intimidating aggression tactics that DO work. I think at the moment we are to weak in this department. ***an was not in the team to score goals. I do agree that he is a different type of player to Koren although, Koren's contribution to games of late have had little to note.
