It's not Donald's fault though that there's very little to come after him. It's asking a huge amount of your opener to both get your team off to a flyer, and then bat through. The latter was Dawson or Northeast's job. It's also why I'd have promoted Fuller to 3. He maybe could have scored quicker against a newer ball.
Quite possible that Morris will end up facing the most balls of the innings (needs to face four balls in the last over). And yet with one over left, he's done absolutely nothing. That's what you get for batting a no.8 at no.5.
He's actually costing us runs/balls. That's three times now Morris has played at a ball which would have been wide if he'd just stood there.
Dawson bats through with his usual run-a-ball knocking it around innings, and we'd have cruised to 150+. Hence 140 has to be under par. A typical slow Bristol, yes. But Gloucs should have the experience of this pitch to chase 140.
Seems a pretty **** score really. Decent start then just nothing after the power play. Hopefully Glos can knock the runs off with a few overs to spare
So whereas Donald was peppering boundaries, Gloucs' only boundary from the first three overs came from a real wide one from Wood which deserved to be put away.
One over to lose the match. Thanks for coming Ryan. That's the only over you'll be bowling this season.
