When is the Champions League draw? It will take place August 29 at 4.30pm and will be hosted in Monaco. The draw will be live on BT Sport or alternatively can you keep track of the Manchester Evening News' live blog to follow it all. Who can Man City face in the Champions League group stage? Man City are in Pot 1 for the draw as one of the top seeds. Also in Pot 1 are Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Zenit St Petersburg - meaning the Reds cannot face any of these sides. They also can't face Tottenham, who are guaranteed to be in Pot Two, as teams from the same country are kept apart at this stage of the competition. While Pots Two, Three and Four will only be confirmed once the qualifiers are finished on August 28, there are certain teams whose placing is secured. In Pot Two, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Napoli and Shakhtar Donetsk will definitely join Tottenham, while Porto and Ajax will also be in Pot Two if they negotiate their qualifiers. Pot Three includes Benfica, Lyon, Bayer Leverkusen, FC Salzburg, Valencia and Inter Milan, with Dinamo Kiev and Celtic provisionally included on the basis they win through the qualifying round. And in Pot Four, Lokomotiv Moscow, Genk, Galatasaray, RB Leipzig, Atalanta and Lille are in, with FC Copenhagen and Dinamo Zagreb looking to join them. Should any of the six expected qualifiers fail to make it to the group stage, teams could move up a pot - for example, if Ajax or Porto miss out, Benfica will move up to Pot Two - but many of the teams are unlikely to shift places. What are the Champions League group stage dates? seem to remember the EL coefficient rating isn't much different from CL . I'm still struggling with the idea Ajax had to go thru qualifying FFS.
Yeah its a bit of a piss take, the reward should be entry, not on par with winning the actual champions league. Having said that, unless they get a favourable draw, they will get ripped to shreds in Europe.
Well before last season what kind of impact did they have in the CL? Just because they got to the semi last season doesn’t mean should have auto entry. If celtic fluke it through to quarters this season should the Scottish champs be given entry into Cl automatically?
This is the Champions League, and they are Dutch champions. The Dutch league is a lot stronger than the Scottish Prem.
Ouch! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49324968 If only Chelsea were allowed to sign players, they could do with another striker who doesn't find the net
Not for me https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49324968 Goes to a story about Wilfred Bony having to train with Newport cause he can't find a club, yet only 5 years ago he was being signed by Man City.
Van Dijk went last season without being dribbled past, is scoring a goal a game this season, and is favourite for the Ballon d'Or Maguire has an oversized head which helps clear aimless crosses
Maybe it's more about avoiding an immediate repeat of the Super Cup fixture than about League Cup winners deserving pot 1
Manchester City fined £315,000 for transfer breaches, but avoid ban https://www.skysports.com/football/...ster-city-fined-315-000-for-transfer-breaches
Disgusting Chelsea were banned for the same thing, City admit to doing the same and they get away with it, a fine of £315k for a club like City . Whats the ****ing point? Its nothing to them. Next time someone is accused of breaking the rules, just admit and you'll get a token fine. I hope they're still looking at City's ffp.
I suspect they have paid a lot more than £315k. The non-transfer ban would have cost them a bit in back-handers to the right people
Chelsea breached the rules far more than City did, probably why they received a ban rather than City's slap on the wrist.
