So 6 more goals and NDombele equals in his Spurs career what Bakayoko required over 130 career games to do.
The handball was basically the definition of the new rule. His hand was above the shoulder and making his body unnaturally bigger.
have not seen a replay of it but from up on the wall it looked like his hand was was high and away from his body...tbh I do not understand why both sky and bbc did not show it and nor do I understand how it was not a penalty.
In Europe it would have been a penalty but the F.A are not going by those rules. They have their own rules.
I know but I thought that if your arm was away from your body it was a penalty. Or have I misunderstood?
There is a possible reason it was not a penalty and it has nothing to do with it not being a penalty. We may see more evidence of this in later matches
They're saving their anti-VAR tubthumping for when their favourites get penalised for, you know, being proven to have broken a rule...
That is not true. As Alderweireld takes the shot the defender folds his arms in front of his chest. The ball hits him near the elbow and the force of the impact knocks his arm above his head.
Correct. Deffo not a pen. His elbow was about where the guys shoulder was (after folded in) and it would have been really harsh even with the new laws
Penalty. Firstly, the Toby shot was not on target. The ball could have gone anywhere (re the Kane first goal) if the ball did not hit his hand but elsewhere, but the contact deflected it safely to the GK.
I didn't see that angle but he still isn't trying to make his body bigger. He folds his arms in front of his chest. His hand is just about level with his shoulder. That can't be a penalty surely?
If the Market for him is limited, it may mean he'll stay after all. Without wishing to sound arrogant, how many teams are a level above us now, especially if we start to pay the going rate for wages. There are probably several at most that are a level above us, if none of them want him in August/January/next August, he's better off staying put.
It's difficult to judge any team on one game, but Spurs game did raise a number of interesting issues. 10 talking points: 1. Kane remains a clinical striker who will turn draws into wins. 2. Eriksen makes a hell of difference to Spurs' creativity in the final third. 3. Lamela isn't quite good enough and is no substitute for Son (or Alli) in the role he played. 4. The whole truth is not being told with Vertonghen. 5. Ndombele looks like a potential Yaya Toure. 6. Walker-Peters looked a good replacement for Trippier - although he didn't have to do too much defending. 7. Rose is still very much part of Spurs' plans .As is Alderweireld. 8. 4-2-3-1 works better than 4-3-3. With two full backs who get forward, a disciplined holding midfielder needs to play in that position. Dier or one of Ndombele and Sissoko. 9. Lucas is back up for Kane; if they both play, he wants to occupy the same space and doesn't provide enough width. 10. Pochettino has a big and talented squad - strength in depth comparable or better than any team but City; time for him to show he can get the best from it and win something!
The stream i watched there was a better view where the hand is roughly where his shoulder is. Hes not bigger which is why i i wouldnt have given it. If it made him significantly bigger then i agree should have been a pen
Why? I posted a playlist file of several live streams for Sky Sports Premier League and Main Event using VLC Player?
He's bigger. If his arm isn't there, then the ball doesn't hit him. His hand is in an unnatural position and there's no reason for him to move it there.
3. Lamela isn't quite good enough and is no substitute for Son (or Alli) in the role he played. Lamela presses better than either of them, as we saw for the second goal, but he needs to play wide and not in the middle. He's a useful squad player and gives us something a little different, if he can stay fit. Son and Alli still start ahead of him though, of course. 5. Ndombele looks like a potential Yaya Toure. I think that he's just New Dembele. Hopefully he'll add goals to the mix, too. 9. Lucas is back up for Kane; if they both play, he wants to occupy the same space and doesn't provide enough width. Moura isn't a striker and he's ineffective when used there or on the left. He's incredibly dangerous when used on the right of the 3 behind the striker, which allows him more freedom and space to make runs. Pochettino seems to want to use him as a Defoe-type on the shoulder finisher and it doesn't work.
