We literally performed even worse in the reverse fixture last season, and Arsenal were a worse side than they are now. I will repeat this point, we were ****ing dirge this time last year, easily the worst team in the league it took us ages to look remotely half decent. In those 11 games we played two relegated sides and Southampton, we looked worse than them. If you're going to give the best champions league manager ever 11 games of utter ****e to pull together a few wins, I suspect you'll have to give Steve Bruce a bit more time considering we've played one game against a good side- and performed very well for most of the game. If you want this club to be a laughing stock, please sack the manager we only just signed and please find me a replacement within 2 weeks before our season is done. If you can't name me a likely replacement in this thread, who can seriously appease you, shut the **** up about it until January.
Hope everyone enjoyed the first installment of Steve 'attacking' Bruce. Next up, Sweeper and Defender. Can't wait!
We have sold our best players, replaced rafa benitez with steve bruce and will get relegated . However I agree
In that case, the result is even more impressive since Rafa Benitez was a better manager AND had better players and replicated an identical result.
I still think we are on for a 12th place finish quite honestly, I also think a good result against Norwich will see everyone changing their tune. I'm not concerned. If we do bad against Norwich, I'll be worried, I know the Championship winners can also be good sides but we should be getting 3 points off them in my opinion.
This is Rafa right now. “Ha ha ha ha, £100 quid. Ha ha ha ha, £200 quid. Ha ha ha ha ha ha, £500 quid. Steve br....... ha ha HAHAHA £1k.
I think theyre as good as us only 8 plscrs behind us basically which is nothin and of theyre at home ... 1-1 dont see anyone as favourite to win really. Really hope we get a win though.
Joelinton > Rondon Perez > ASM Almiron = Almiron Same quality attack and feel that this attach we currently have will far surpass last seasons Problem Playing 3 central midfielders with a back 5
Like i suggested yesterday shelvey should not be involved we never see enough possesion and adding 3 squad player inc ine crocked pr stunt and replacing 2 first 11 players like for like doest give bruce the players to resolve it. Just needed to play the same as last season with saint max and joelintin replacing perez and rondon. Bruces selection, positioning if hayden and then his subs were worrying .
The end has to be near!! The fans are leaving, the clubs facilities are outdated and the place looks run down, the club has lost its appeal to managers and players. The most sad thing is the reality that one of the largest and loyal fan bases in the world are reduced to being laughed at.. please for the love of god stop going... imagine the media etc if st james was empty ... stop just accepting it ... dont be so weak!!! Show strength !!! Show how much you love nufc by NOT going ... you can do it YES YOU CAN. Ask not what your club can do for you , but what you can do for your club. ASHLEY OUT.. in fact im gunna make this a thread..
Pretty much sums up my feelings. No point in hiding from it, Steve Bruce had a shocking first day at work! It started well and the intent in the first 25mins was good and much improved from last season. We got after them and caused issues. However the tactical incompetence 2nd half, there is no point pretending it wasn't worrying because it was. Obviously we had a shocking start last season and we gave that manager time. I suggest we do the same but Bruce has a lot of work to do to convince the fans, and he made a terrible start. Its a bit boring if after every game we are going to get "you see this is what we lost with Rafa". Whether you believe Rafa had any intention of staying is up for debate. What isn't is that he isn't our manager anymore and we need to stop going over that ground.
I tell you one thing mind I think i was mentally scarred by the weekend. After watching the UFC and our game against Arsenal, I am having nightmares about noses. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Disappointing display across the park to be honest. Major issue - Bruce - Willing to give him more time, 5/6 games maybe but I won't be holding my breath, but yesterday was a shambles. 1) Formation - not convinced with 3-5-2 rather go back to 5-4-1/3-4-3 to be honest. Need Miggy and ASM supporting Joelinton, can push them more narrow than last year but think both are needed. 2 of Shelvey Hayden Longstaff and Ki in the middle should suffice and play on the counter. 2) Subs - Only used 2 - purely because of the **** he took on the bench - 2 cb's 2 fb's a winger and a striker - NO CM's??? What is this amateur hour? If 2 defenders had knocks leave them out but to negate one position from another for the possibility players won't make the 90 is crazy. Then the situation with Willems coming on? First of all don't see why it was Longstaff who was hooked - didn't think Ritchie did badly moving into the middle although a strange move in itself but the lack of understanding about what was going on was staggering. You could see Willems was confused coming on and then it took a few mins for it to be sorted but for the top level it was incompetency. Then moving Miggy back into CM with Ritchie and Hayden was another strange one - not quite sure what the thinking was there - anyone with a guess answers on a postcard please. 3) Performance - Not bad for the first half of the first half but as it went on it got more and more disjointed - their goal was schoolyard stuff. Dummett's weak pass, Willems standing still waiting for hell to freeze over was just the start - Where Lacselles thought he was going (to cover the runner) I'll never know, but also where was Schar who's meant to be the third CB in that case? 20 yards off the rest of the CB's is where - never even close to making the line again in that play. Dubravka had a awful game as well not sure if he's all there mentally atm with Rafa having gone. 3 CM's did ok but a few misplaced passes etc. Miggy and Joelinton looked lively up top but Miggy's dive was embarrassing and where Joel got a few good shots off needs to be more clinical. Need a much better display against Norwich with Tottenham and Liverpool either side of Watford the 3 games following, we could be on for a worse start than last season where we had all of the "Big 6" in the first 10 games last year - Man u and Chelsea also in our first 10 games, luckily only City in the last 9 games before Jan after that. We need 4/5 points from the next 4 games or we could be in real trouble before the season really begins.
