https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/horse-racing/49318418 Cheltenham Festival: Fences & distance cut in National Hunt Chase after riding row So the National Hunt race is to be cut by 2 furlongs and two fences - All horses must have a minimum BHA rating of 120 to participate, which brings the race in line with Grade One novice chases at the meeting Horses must have run at least once in a steeplechase during the current season and must have run in at least two chases in their career - and finished in the first four in a chase staged over two miles and seven and a half furlongs or further Jockeys must have ridden a minimum of 20 times and achieved at least five winners over fences (excluding point-to-point races) And It has also been announced that a new mares-only steeplechase will be introduced at the Festival in 2021. The new race will be a Grade Two contest over two-and-a-half miles and will replace an existing race, though which one has yet to be decided So which race is going to chopped from the list then...?? I would probably go for the X-Country race, i'ts an ok race but we could lose it in my opinion... Or, the Brown Advisory Plate run on the Thursday... What's your thoughts on the two idea's...??
Theres already too many races that aren't needed without adding another to the mix, they're basically axing a pointless race to replace it with a pointless race. Mares hurdle, Fred Winter, Cross Country could all go. One of the novice hurdles could go as well, probably the Ballymore. The more races and options you give them the more they are diluting the festival.
hi fellas! well, not easy to answer, but one race,id definitely not throw out is the cross-country.i am a big fan of this unique event, and its always great to watch.but,of course, this is just my personal opinion.otherwise,i find it good to open up the mares programme,as they deserve to get a piece of the limelight over fences. so,back to business now. catterick,4 15: a tricky race,as most of these, with the exception of the favourite ollivander, are struggling for consistency and/or are out of form.at first sight, this seems to be also the case with my fancy FUENTE.but it may pay to take a closer look to his form.hes been bombed out badly the last twice, true, but if you dare go back to his best form last september, which was a honourable 3rd in the sirenia stakes at kempton, where he met horses like the highly promising kessaar,so if back to that form today,he d be very dangerous to all.its a big IF,yes, but shouldnt be completely overlooked today..
