Yeah I’m really excited to see what Tanguy can do with us, he looks like he’s going to be some player. I’m really looking forward to seeing GLC too

I thought the idea going I to this season was to have an Eriksen and an alternative, but if CE does go this window we are back to square one when we play teams like Villa,Burnley,Watford and the list goes on , teams that flood the defence and we just run at their brick wall
Sometimes CE is the key to unlocking the door but when that fails we need hopefully the likes of Lo Celso, should CE go then I hope Levy have a plan B come the next window
Today without CE starting we missed that link up that Dele displays and his empathy with Kane and vice versa was greatly missed last season due to injury to both
Without doubt I hope that CE stays because he comes up with the goods if only he could clear the 1st man at corners and free kicks

I'm praying I get to see just one game with Tanguy, GLC and Eriksen. I know it means we won't have a defensive option but then I'd argue if we'd really need it. The football on show could be a delight to watch.

Please, footballing gods, just let me see it once*

*Once means many times and get Eriksen to sign a new ****ing contract.

Let’s wait to see who can’t score for toffee this season then play those 3 against them at home.

Fast forward 6 months and we lose it 0-1 after Lloris drops a bollock from a 91st minute corner (their first of the game) and we have 30 attempts, one on target.

    It’s Spurs, after all

In the first half the young right back kept being fed the ball and I thought he didn't know what to do with it if he couldn't pass sideways or backwards. With this service why wasn't Mouro on the right side?

I concede your points on why there is no queue for Eriksen but not about his inconsistency even the Danish were complaining about that when he played for the national side. I am always impressed with your knowledge of players across Europe and you stuck to your guns in the window and were proved largely right but sometimes I think you form an opinion of a player early and do not shift as the player develops. Winks is still a developing player for example and is becoming more and more reliable in his midfield role. I remember the young Perryman was criticised by fans in a similar way. Players like this are not usually flamboyant but become very good footballers by concentrating on getting the simple things right. As most of the great managers have said football is a simple game. Winks is already Mr Reliable and there is always a place in any team for someone like that.

Gazzanigga; Aurier, Vertonghen, Davies, Sessesgnon; Dier, Wanyama; Eriksen, Lo Celso, Alli; Son.
A team that didn't start yesterday, most of whom didn't make the squad, for various reasons.
No Parrott, Tanganga, Foyth, etc. either.

Our depth is increasing and the young players are increasing in value to the team. I always remember that this is how arguably the best Man United side happened and Hansen's comment 'you never win anything with kids' sticks in the mind when they went on to win everything. We have invested heavily in developing young players and we have a manager who is always open to giving them a chance, now we just need the luck of the draw.

I wonder if Poch will be taking our domestic cup competitions seriously this season. I keep hearing pundits saying Spurs need to win something......Even Man City and Liverpool would kill for even a Football League Cup trophy.. (I would too!)

In every game, no matter how one-sided, the opposition will have chances. West Ham did yesterday and they lost 5-0. We scored 9 against Wigan and they still scored too.

If I'm confused it's because you keep changing your story and blaming Winks for stuff that has nothing to do with him.

Defenders can't deal with a long ball? Winks' fault.

Villa tried to defend a 1-0 lead? They'd have been charging at us if Winks hadn't been subbed off.

Kane and Moura miss chances? Winks, mate, what are you doing.

Scoring late winners? Could never happen with Winks on the pitch.

ie building a SQUAD that can compete with the Citeh filthy lucre squad.

Time will tell this season whether Pochettino has the management skills to
give them all sufficient game time this season to allow Spurs to compete on
all fronts this season (even with injury plagues) ...

Nothing’s changing, you’re just twisting words.

At 0-0 Winks isn’t someone you want on the pitch against a team like Villa - in my opinion.

At 3-1 up he’d be ideal to bring on to slower the pace of the game and retain possession in which the opposition will look at upping their tempo.

That’s probably the easiest way I can explain it.

The squad strength on paper now is such that Spurs will have to play
strong starting XIs in domestic cups, if only to keep the squad with serious
    game time in their legs.

He is a Mr Reliable, can’t argue with that, but I’m not sure that’s what we need in most games. I think we need “Mr let’s try and make something happen” because most of the opposition we face generally sit back. With Eriksen and Tanguy in the side, they fit that mould whilst Sissoko acts as a bridge for the defence to attack as well as a decent protector of the back four (albeit not as good as Dier/ Vic in that regard).

As I just said to NKNG, Winks is someone I’d bring on when the opposition are more frantic and trying to come at us with 10/15/20 mins remaining after we’ve taken a nice lead as his reliability is something we can utilise to calm the game down and keep possession. He’s not someone I feel we need at the start of a game when the opposition are more disciplined and playing smarter because his qualities are rather redundant as he’s not a creator, he’s not a box to box player and he’s not an out right defensive midfielder. He’s a “water carrier” who can keep things simple and personally, I don’t think simple cuts it when we’re looking to try and win or chase a game.

Thought that John McGinn fella looked pretty good for Villa. Him and Grealish were working quite well in that midfield, can see why McGinn won their POTS.

Loved it that Lamela dispossessed Grealish for our second though, karma for not joining us <whistle>

Tyrone Mings had a good game at the back for them as well, maybe that £26m fee they paid ain’t so dumb if he continues playing like that.
