Grr! I just hope my train gets me from Yorkshire to Watford today! Mlle Yorkie had to get a taxi from Newark last night when he train gave up...
Greetings from sunny but windy North West London. Am I the only one feeling like a kid on Christmas Eve?
We went to Edinburgh last Wednesday on the Train for a festival concert. Whilst we were there the lines got flooded so Train cancelled. Scotrail kindly provided a taxi home to Dunblane. I would guess the lines are still flooded. Can't buy an Ark anywhere at the moment. Horendous journey down to Haverfordwest yesterday, ark would have helped.
Morning all. Overcast but dry in rural France this morning. Chance of rain, 0%. Daughter returning from the UK on Monday, so it will start to rain after I stop an hours watering in her garden every day. The camp site in town is busy, but the restaurant across the road is no longer open. What was a very busy operation serving midday meals for workmen, and evening meals for locals, tried to turn itself into a pizza joint. Result was that they lost both sets of users. The workmen have found somewhere else, and will not return. The locals and visitors have gone to some of the new places that have opened in the larger town. Moral is, keep away from pizza.
And my journey today to watch that, I left home at seven forrty five and I will get back to the house just before ten pm... We saw a fella wearing a Watford shirt with 'grumpy old git' on the back.. I know what Mlle is thinking of getting me for Xmas..
To quote a Harry Enfield’s “Norbert Smith - A Life”: “You miserable old bastard!” “HEY!! Less of the ‘old’!”
I noticed a tweet from Rookery Mike who had been stuck in his car at Calais for five hours as the bad weather has caused chaos in cross Channel crossings today. My daughter will be attempting to get back tomorrow, and further disruption is expected. I have suffered such problems and it really can throw hotel bookings etc to the wind. Many large events in the UK have been cancelled which is a great shame for those who have spent many hours of their time organising them. Not much one can do, although I did insure against bad weather once, and made a successful claim.
It had two pubs back in my day, though I only used The Queen's Head Good morning all from a warm and dry Weston-super-Mare! Have a good day
Morning, Dave; morning, everyone. I feel I’ve had a positive lie-in, Dave, responding at 4.45 a.m. Every year, Mrs Andy and I wait for the moment lazy football ‘pundits’ will start the season saying of a newly promoted team: “Welcome to the Premier League!” It’s so patronising and, as I said, lazy. Have we had it yet? I’m assuming your second half, Dave, saved you from such nonsense. Did Villa’s ultimate loss provoke said response? Along the lines of: “You thought you’d won that game - welcome to the Premier League...” Yada yada...
I watched Football Focus on Saturday and Alex Scott said some nice things about us, she had obviously watched the game and saw what most of us saw. We were playing the European Champions at their home ground where only 7 teams scored against them last season. I think we did okay
Morning all. Very late start to the day, but it is overcast with very light rain falling. It will do little to refill my water butts, but will wash the dust off some of my plants. Drizzle can make you very wet, whereas light rain does not always do it. It maybe not much, and maybe will not last long, but I am pleased to see it.
OK you lovely people, I'm off to bed! Night all Night H Early start tomorrow, being picked up at 0700 and taken to Southmead for my latest cystoscopy and biopsies so nothing to eat now till after the op. I can drink water up until 0630 in the morning!
I hope that everything goes well tomorrow Dave, and you are not in discomfort after they have finished with you. Have a wee dram on your return.
