Not sure if starting the young lad against the rugby team of football is a wise decision.

I guess Bruce doesn't believe in giving youngsters easier cup games to build confidence first. He's threw Wickham out against Newcastle in a high-tension derby match, and now he's sending him out against Stoke (if the article is true).

Hope they haven't, ridiculous if true. Ji Dong Won comes on and scores, so we pick Whickham to play with Bendtner? No way. Ji has earned the right to get his chance.

I don't care as log as he plays one of them tbh! Didn't see the game at the weekend, but I heard wickham did well when he came on. Besides, it makes sense to use his physique against a team like stoke, ji is big but hes a bit lanky.. As long aswe don't play 4-5-1 I'll be happy!

This x3. Apart from one little fact. We don't see what goes on in training.
I just hope whoever Bruce plays has a blinder.

Stoke, which means Huth and Shawcross, both big powerful lads, so to combat this we need some size and strength, which Wickham has, Ji is also fairly tall, so it makes sense to play either of these two up with Bendtner, personally i'd choose Ji...

But why do i get a feeling that SB will insist on playing a dwarf up front with Bendtner, instead of putting him on a l/w.

Ok Sess isn't really a dwarf but he'd only come up to Huths knee-caps, but you know what i mean.

Time for one of the new young lads to shine, and prove themselves.

I just can't see him changing track now. Bendtner up front and sessegnon sitting behind him. All the Bruce fans must agree with this as if everything is fine, why would if change tactics and formations now?

Only an admission that his tactics are ****e and the season has gone belly up thus far, would force a change to 2 up front.

If all is going well, as the BiB's keep telling me we are just unlucky, then surely Bruce will persist with his folly of telling us sessegnon is still a striker. Won't he?

Cest give it a rest mate with spinning the argument to suit, its tiresome.

Now back to the OP, I can see the benefit of Wickham and Ji but because of Ji's goal I would go with him.

Cest as a BiB I know everything isn't alright just means I don't want to sack the manager and think things can be sorted by Bruce.
Back to the op either would be good, but think that Ji should get it because of his goal.

I would start with Wickham over Ji purely for his height. Would also consider Elmo at rb, O'Shea at lb (if it) and drop Richardson to the bench for the weekend

Ji gets the nod for me, mainly because of his goal last week and he edges it in the experiance stakes.

I recon Wickham is the way to go! Hes strong and of what ive seen he gets in some really good positions within the box! i like Ji, just think hes a bit lightweight for a game against Stoke and recon Wickham could tear them a new one! Been saying for ages we should start him, whats the point in paying 8 million for a striker and not playing him?

I've said that Wickham and Bendtner or Ji and Bendtner would be good - The only reason Wickham would maybe owrk better is that he's used to the rough side of the english game (and he's "bigger" than Ji and looks like he can handle himself.

Ji's goal (which he took superbly well) puts him firmly in the frame for the weekend

Hope he plays 2 up top (Either Ji or Wickham and Bendtner) AND leaves someone on the half way line when the opposition get a corner - And doesn't play the long ball to the wing which would suit Stoke!

And I would certainly start with Westwood in goal because I fear about Mig at crosses

Could it not work with Bentner and Ji up front, with Wickham l/w (where he sometimes played for Ipswich).

Freeing Sess up for c/m with either Catts or Gardner, then Larsson r/w...

Maybe not, but it's a thought.

I don't think we should start with Catts and Colback both in the midfield as they are too similar in styles. Pessonally, I would probably leave Catts on the bench as I feel that Colback has a little more to his game. This would leave it open for one of our attack minded midfielders to play in the middle which in my opinion would leave us with a better balance...
