A load of crap. Even Lawro, who doesn't like Newcastle, said there was nothing wrong with Barton's tackle.

    It was an amazing tackle.
It's just that footballers these days think that to acquire the ball, the player must swift piecefully past the opponent without touching them at all.
They just can't handle Cheik and Joey!

Piece of **** article and it's good to see some supporters from other clubs defending him in the comments.

its just been discussed on Goals On Sunday not one person said it was a bad tackle Souness said hard tackling was just part of Joeys game ffs we were getting stuffed 4-0 at the time he had the bottle to get stuck in
Chris Kamara said Diabe reacted like he did because he,s had a couple of bad injuries Souness dismissed this saying he cant expect players to pull out of tackles because of his past injuries

Absolutely, ****ing ridiculous. He hasn't even slid in he's just poked the ball past Diaby and then the two players collide. If anything it's Diaby's foul because he's gone in just as hard as Barton but hasn't got the ball.

I'm shocked by Souness sticking up for one of our players, last time he was a pundit for one of our games he said the fans were to blame for us being behind at HT.

How can they say its a horrible tackle! If you pause that video at 1:03 you can see Diaby has his legs open, Barton slides in megs him then the momentum takes him into the player! how do people expect players to tackle these days? What really annoys me is people talking about this yet no one is mentioning Scholes trying the hand of God, thats cheating!!

If Diaby was so influenced by previous bad tackles why didn't he pull out, Barton was always going to get to the ball before him, it also infuriates me that Wenger makes comments to the effect that Barton should have been red carded, when is Wenger ever going to see some of the crap his players have inflicted on others or admit they were in the wrong. I actually agree with Souness that just because he has been injured doesn't give him any special rights or dispensation to behave in this manner, Arsenal blew it yesterday because they didn't have players that battle for the club, team and fans even with 10 men they were 4-0 up with international players through out the team and never should have been pegged back. The vast majority of the fans in St James didn't give up yesterday and the team responded, perhaps Wenger and his players should stop whinning and think about Desire, Character, Heart, Determination and the attitude that says you don't stop till the final whistle because that was all on display in the second half yesterday, a final word for Wenger, Dignity, you need to learn about it.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am thoroughly sick of Arsenal and their friends in the media. They're like spoilt little girls when they don't get all their own way. Then they stamp their little feet and skweam and skweam until they are sick.

When on earth will they learn some decorum?
