United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer held talks with Tottenham's Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen over a potential move to Old Trafford, however the 27-year-old wanted to hold out for a move to Spain. (Manchester Evening News)

BOOM ****ing shocking kiss the badge son).

Not wumming here, but what do you filthy yids make of the situation with Vertonghen being left out of the squad against Villa ? Apparently he was 'furious' at Poch's decision. Do you think it's a precursor to him being sold abroad ?

Both Alderwiereld and Vertonghen are out of contract next summer and can leave on a free. And with Eriksen looking like he might be about to leave, that's 3 players who are absolutely integral to your team's success. Well, you haven't actually had any success, but you know what I mean.

Hopefully he was furious, if he were happy I'd be worried, bruv.

As for being sold, I doubt it. We won't get much for him now anyway despite the fact he's still easily our best CB.

Yeah, that's the sort of reaction you want from a player if he's dropped tbh. Shows he's still got the fight. Bit of an odd one from Poch though.

I thought you lot looked very ordinary against Villa until you brought Eriksen on. If he goes, that's got to be a massive concern as he's the player who unlocks the oppo for you lot.

If Vertonghen was genuinely out of shape then I understand the decision but it did seem weird to drop him completely.

Poch's selection was daft. The diamond formation doesn't work for us, even worse when it's without Eriksen. Moment we binned Winks off and went 4231 we looked proper.

EDIT: as for Eriksen going, that's why we've brought Lo Celso but he'll need time, I hope we keep Eriksen for the season even if it means losing him for free.

We thought that with Sanchez though and looking back I wish we'd cashed in when City were offering £60m. That said, Eriksen actually looks like a grafter, whereas Sanchez just downed tools and revealed himself as a bit of a selfish ****.

I'm probably Eriksen's biggest fan, my favourite player at the club, up there with Modric/ Bale in my opinion as best to have played for us in the Prem.

Lo Celso looked slick in training footage that the club released but I'd rather see him playing alongside Eriksen than instead of. Im clinging to a small bit of hope that if Real definitely decide not to sign him he may sign a new deal but that's still highly unlikely. Knowing Juve they'll just add another top free transfer to their list.

It looks like Eriksen has made up his mind and wants a bigger challenge. To be fair, you can't blame him. He's 27 now ? and about to reach the peak of his career and Spurs haven't really been able to offer him trophies.

I know that sounds like a wum, but it honestly ain't... this time ;)

To maximise your chance of winning a trophy you need to be at a Club where you are closest to being the worst player. I don't think he wants a 'bigger' challenge but I can understand why he wants a different one. He has never played in Italy, Spain or Germany.

Players who want trophies shouldn't really come to England...they need to go to Bayern Munich, Juventus or PSG where there is little domestic competition.

Bigger challenge as in playing for a bigger club. He's good enough to play for Barca, Real, Juve and at his stage of his career, you can see why he wants that challenge.

    Not true.

You just need to join a team with better players and/or a better manager.

If eriksen joined juve or bayern he would probably be their best midfielder. No way is that close to the worst player

Lol to be fair I've said the same. He's one of the best players in his position throughout Europe, I'm just amazed he hasn't already been snapped up this window. The Real fans and Perez all want him but Zidane seems hellbent on getting Pogba, personally I hope Zidane gets what he wants <whistle>

Pogba is ****ing gash compared to Eriksen. I'm sure you won't be surprised to hear me say I'd like Pogba to continue to be ineffective at Utd whilst Eriksen goes to Madrid.

He'll enjoy the beaches there @Hoddle Is A God

Probably. But that leaves a small matter with of them wanting him, which they’ve shown no sign of doing.

Madrid should back their manager though. Give Zidane what he wants, yeah?
