Pack leaves which means it’s only Korey left from the promotion winning season. https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/pack-departs-ashton-gate/
A real shame, but I think we all know he needed to be moved out of the first team, I didn't see us selling him though tbh, that is a real shock. I wish him well, and I'm certain he will (and should) get a very warm reception when he returns to the gate.
I am sorry to see Marlon Pack leave because he has served us well but he has been off the boil more than on for a while, a change of direction will be good for both of us, good luck to the guy, the world moves on.
No one to replace Webster, planned ? , it’s a lot to take in , stronger than last season? , I’m not sure at the moment, different that’s for sure.
Taylor Moore, given time he will come on. Webster wasn’t at his best till Kalas joined. One thing I noticed with Taylor Moore on Sunday, apart from he’s not a puny kid no more, he may be right footed but not afraid to use his left either.
Agree, I thought Moore showed some real promise and composure on Sunday, but clearly still a lot to learn at this level. I really hope he will prosper this season.
I thought he did well , a role similar to Kelly last season would be better though, it’s a heck of a jump from league 1 to top Championship, remember when we first came up it took our league 1 title winners a while to adapt, to expect Taylor Moore to step up long term straight away is one heck of an ask, he may manage it but I’d rather not take the risk.
Marlon has been an ever present the last few years, the last two in particular, like him or not who is going to take his role. The new players are going to take a while to settle, long term there is promise in our signings, but i worry how we will manage short term.
I’ve always like Pack, however I said to someone last season. As much as I like Pack if we upgraded his position as in pace and not so many rash decisions then we would be a lot stronger as a team. One other note to make, is Warnock trying to make Cardiff the slowest defence in this division? Morrison, Flint and now Pack will make nippy forwards dream to play against.
Pack was a grafter but pace was his downfall and when city were on the backfoot he struggled big time. Thank You but it was time to move him on.
Great servant to the club, good luck Marlon. I must admit I didn't see that coming, especially where he's gone. Lots of new faces brought in over the last 2 days. The $64,000 question is how long will they take to gel and start producing results.
I think Warnock has had 1 season too many, and come May I reckon all Cardiff fans will agree. No way will they be top 2, I doubt even top 6 after this window. In such a tight league, they have not spent wisely last season, or this. Having money was alway's Warnock's downfall.
A bit like Dave Jones and Mark Hughes, better wheeling and dealing in the frees, rough diamonds and cast offs than having money. We've quite a few 2M to 6M pound players that have ended up on the bench or out on loan while the frees or sub £1M players have excelled. Smithies, Cunningham, Madine and Tomlin have cost a chunk of cash and barely played. Bamba and Hoillet probably his best signings. Mendez-Laing and Patterson in there as well, along with Ethridge. Time will tell as to whether the latest batch of signings will excell or falter. I have questions over a few, but have been proven wrong in the past. I still wont put it past Colin getting us top 6, but leeds, WBA and Fulham will be hard to finish in front of, though funnier things have happened, like the last time we went up.
Cardiff City signed Marlon Pack yesterday in a late deadline day deal. Eyebrows were raised among some Bristol City fans for selling their long-serving midfielder to their Severnside rivals, yet the undisclosed fee can now be revealed. The Bluebirds agreed a £4m deal with the Robins for the 28-year-old, who had been at Ashton Gate since a 2013 move from Cheltenham Town. Cardiff have paid £750k to £1m up front for Pack, and the Robins will receive the rest of the money in installments. Pack has also received a pay rise in the deal, which Robins boss Lee Johnson hinted at when explaining the reasons for letting the midfielder go. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/revealed-how-much-cardiff-city-3191973
