I must confess that my initial satisfaction with our transfer business has gone down the drain, especially after all the hype about the search for a new striker has come up apparently with nothing. It is beginning to look like we have somewhat gutted the team, especially if some of the fringe gossip comes to fruition, and what we now have does not impress me at all at first glance. Perhaps the no-deal for the Arsenal player loanee shows just how off the radar we are for players that want to move ahead and improve their lot. I have this feeling that we will flounder in our attempts to reach the playoffs but think Lee will be given at least another 5 windows to get it right, unless he upsets the apple cart owned by SL. Poor results in my books but perhaps there's a super last minute deal that has crept below the radar.
He's been around the blocks a bit and I'm not so sure he's what we were looking for, but time was running out for Lee and the team. P.S. As a side thought to the whole transfer saga am I wrong in thinking that more of the so called dedicated City players have shown a distinct lack of interest in the shirt and have been bandied around the shop window. What makes these players unhappy with their lot in the footballing world and their feeling that Bristol City is not where they want to be?
Bristol City transfer deadline day LIVE: Robins turn to Benik Afobe from Stoke City, but stalwart leaves club All the analysis following a hectic day at BS3 https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/bristol-transfer-afobe-pack-live-3186923
Atleast we got a striker in finally, will not moan about him until I see him play, apparently Pack is off to Cardiff which is a shame but suppose someone had to leave
I am sorry to see Marlon Pack leave because he has served us well but he has been off the boil more than on for a while, a change of direction will be good for both of us, good luck to the guy, the world moves on.
LJ showing a ruthless streak this season towards the in and out of form players, of which Pato is definitely one, a shame though as I liked him and think he offers us a lot. Still, it's only a loan deal, so he could be back.
For what it's worth I think it's been a good window. I also think, fingers crossed, without Pack we might have an exciting midfield. Well, that's what I hope.
I agree with RP, our midfield appears stronger, the only issue is, it will take time to gel together and learn LJ's style. Saturday's starting 11 and 3 subs will potentially be vastly different to last Sunday. No Pack, Pato and probably no Hunt either, as well as one from COD, Brownhill and Weinmann to dip out for Afobe. Are we better, time will tell, but it's certainly a shake-up!!
From a poster on OTIB, looks a tidy line up I think. ______________Bentley______________ Pereira____kalas_____Baker____Dasilva _______________Nagy_______________ Brownhill__________________Massengo ________Szmodics____Palmer_________ _______________Afobi________________
Essentially 2 banks of 5, attacking and defending - the midfielders will need better legs than we saw on Sunday though.....
