Massively respect this: I’ve always said I have no issue with players that want to leave Spurs for bigger and better things so long as a) they show respect to the club and b) don’t join a fellow top six side. It really is a complex deal though and we haven’t had much time to sort it what with Juve’s stance suddenly shifting towards getting rid of the player. It’d be amazing if we manage it but I certainly won’t hold a grudge against the club if we don’t.

Of course, payment structure has certainly changed but there is also a chance that the 20% sell-on fee to PSG vanished overnight and now resembles a slightly mad Ivory Coast international with a penchant for foul throws and giving away penalties. Ornstein's comments about Sessegnon are interesting especially as we brace ourselves to lose out on Dybala. If he doesn't sign we have no real back up for Kane beyond Son and maybe Lucas...but if they shift centrally we lose pace on the flanks...cue Sessegnon to plug that gap. It also means that should Toby leave after the window closes, we'll be able to utilise Davies at CB when needed (Jan shouldn't be playing as many games as he does at his age) and use Sess as cover for Rose. The fact that he is quite versatile is useful and despite saying we should delay signing him until January or even next summer, I can see the wisdom in bringing him in now. As for Dybala, the image rights supposedly add another £12m to the overall cost, which is bonkers. Can we just have a wiparound of all spurs fans globally?
