In fairness strategies can change massively in a market. A player you thought was staying may want out. No one bids for any of your players who you were hoping to raise funds from. A player you wanted may have gotten injured/ change of heart. A club could’ve changed their stance on a player etc. Right now, I think our strategy is to reinforce the CM (GLC), add depth on the left (Sess) and then replace Eriksen (Bruno). The Dybala situation has come as a left field signing (I did actually say I fancied a left field signing a day or so back), for him to be up for transfer is something very few clubs would’ve expected and it looks like we’re trying to make it happen but the ball is now in his court. If we also do get Dybala over the line, that could then scupper a deal for Bruno but we need to make sure we’re in a position to sign him should Dybala reject us.

By all accounts, a deal for Bruno was scuppered and it was Sporting who scuppered it. They dug their heels in for £65m and we said no thanks. I don't think he was ever priority in any event. Dybala and Lo Celso are the players the gaffer really wants. Let's hope we can give him the spoils his hard work deserves.
