It's the same script as the Lo Celso tragicomedy just with a different actor playing lead? Although the various purveyors of bullshit are suggesting that the 20% sell-on fee to PSG is the sticking point with Betis that led to us turning to Fernandes. Betis won't accept out £55m offer as they'd effectively only see £44m of it. The bit that doesn't add up is that if we're really ok to pay £60m for Fernandes, we're only £5m off of what Betis would accept for Lo Celso. So why not pay it? My head hurts.
I hear that Betis were hostile in negotiations, as our being linked to Leandro Daimao is what led to them signing him in 2016 He played just 129 minutes for them...
When they took over Liverpool finished 7th and were in the verge of going into administration. Since they have found the one in klopp, similar to spurs and poch they have backed him with investment. Nobody would have said vvd was a bargain last year. He was backed and now vvd is on the verge of winning the balon dor which is virtually unheard of for a defender. No ones saying poch is the best at signing players but having managed to qualify for cl 4 years on the trot and made 100 millions under financial restrictions with cl runs, you would think he has earnt the right to be backed with the finances that he has brought him with his management
AJ has become the best Spurs ITK this window . Odds on him being involved in a new signing announcement video?
Your head would hurt less if you stopped reading the fictions written by journalists....a lot of this stuff is made up.
The only thing that matters is that Pochettino badly needs a class NEW AM in the squad, regardless of what Eriksen is up to. Either the owners will back him and get at least one of his desired players, or they will revert to Moutinho 2013 type and not. If the latter, I expect Pochettino to be gone next summer. If early season results go remotely badly, he may well just go into apathy mode and let things play out like AVB 2013-14.
Whilst we have all been distracted by our requirements to sign better 'creative' options in midfield and possibly a right back, I am becoming increasing worried that we are going to be starting the season with just 1 out and out centre forward that has played any senior football and he has dodgy ankles If (and I don't want to tempt fate) we were to lose him on Saturday we would go to City the following week with no central forwards available, how have we allowed the squad to become so threadbare its insane.
It’s not just journalists these days, too many twitter accounts just making things up. With all these Spurs twitter accounts, run by fans but have a logo and they like to pretend like they’re in the know.
Agree, even with Eriksen, Spurs need backup/competition for him Also needed a CM which they got. Then lost the two back up strikers (Vinnie and Llorente and sold Trippier. So in my mind, they need a ST, AM and possibly RB (although looks like Foyth will be RB once fit)
You think it’s made up, I think it fits in well with ENIC/Levy’s philosophy and very much sounds like us doing ‘business’
No but the way our negotiations seem to go fits in well with our past actions...without a doubt no one knows the exact figures but the way we going about it has Levy written all over it. The stories behind Lo Celso are pretty real and happening. I don’t believe stories like we are in for Coutinho but Lo Celso and Dybala to an extent yes.
....AND another AM/creative player if Eriksen leaves, so we’re stronger in strength and depth. Not happening in a million years.
I still think we’ll see at least three arrive. If I were still a gambling man, my money would be on Sess, GLC/ Bruno and Hyseij/ Atal coming in. If Eriksen does go, I’d really want both GLC and Bruno but it’s unlikely.
Aurier being linked with a move back to France. That would more or less guarantee Hyseij or Atal in my eyes. Perhaps even a swap deal for Atal?
Eriksen to United gathering pace. It would make me sick to the stomach seeing him in that filthy red shirt of the entitled prawn cocktail masses, but I have to put sentiment to the side and trust that: A) Poch is notorious for wanting to work with players who are fully committed to the club and his vision. This means any player who is not committed must be moved on, even if it strengthens a direct rival. We saw that when Walker moved to City and it may be a hit Poch asks us to take again. B) IF we rinse them of enough funds to sign BOTH Lo Celso and Fernandes, I trust that if Poch sees them as bettering our long-term future, they will. C) As nice as it would be to keep Eriksen for another year and lose him on a free, it simply isn't illogical keeping a player who has previous for looking a bit disinterested on the faint hope he doesn't look disinterested and losing out on £60m+ in the process. Bottom line is, if selling Eriksen is the key to signing BOTH Lo Celso and Fernandes, so be it. If he moves abroad and we only bring in one of them, I can live with it. Just. If he goes to United and we only bring in one of them, I will be apocalyptic. If he goes to United and we bring in neither of them, I will support Arsenal for a season. I'm not even joking. @BrunelGooner can be my witness.
Yeah the only way I’d live with Eriksen joining Utd is if it help funded both GLC and Bruno’s arrivals. Just one of them wouldn’t appease like it would if Eriksen went abroad.
IMO it doesn’t matter where Eriksen goes, if he leaves, we need both. There’s a huge risk that 1 replacement may not offer what we’ll be missing out on without Eriksen, or that said player will adapt to the league. If our initial plan was to bring in Lo Celso with Eriksen staying, we’d still be spending £60m. If Eriksen leaves, one of LoCelso/Fernandes’ fee is therefore cancelled out, so we’re no worse off financially but have more depth and options at our disposal. Eriksen leaving this late, and only 1 of those two brought in would still make this a poor window, IMO.
