I heard Scully successfully swerved his way past three customs officers but tripped over the baggage carousel
My 17 year old grandson has just succeeded in getting an apprenticeship with a French company currently in Yorkshire to learn the art of patisserie. It suits him very well as it is something he wants to learn, he can live at home, and continue to go to every game at Elland Road and some of the away games. Four days of practical learning and one day in college each week. But he has been warned that increased costs of all the imported ingredients would mean going to live in France as the company would pull out of Yorkshire. It would also mean that he would have to start a new college course and improve his French greatly. Knowing that I watch all of the Watford games he wanted to know how. Quite funny someone of my age telling someone of his age how to use the internet. He has signed his 3 year contract and will start later this month, and although he would prefer for things to stay as they are, looks upon living and learning abroad as an adventure. How life has changed since I was that age, when I thought spending a week on a farm in Cumbria was going into a foreign world.
His long term job prospects are probably much better in Yorkshire, advise him of the high unemployment figures amongst the young in France. My grandson has his first day of work tomorrow at a bank near Cambridge as a business development manager. Welcome to the real world, son.
Morning all. A lovely still Sunday morning in rural France, and not even the farm is dashing around with machinery. Hugo the Parisian Westie has been out for his morning stroll, and didn't want to walk on the hot tarmac, so had to be picked up when he ran out of grass verge. The parasol is up, not so that I can go and sit in the shade, but to provide a comfortable temperature for the two rabbits that are currently boarding here. Temperature expected to be in the low to middle thirties this afternoon, so a trip out to see some friends will be far better than trying to do some jobs. Enjoy your day whatever you intend to do.
Had a good meeting with the consultant yesterday regarding my TIA..... Have had no reprecussions in 6 months so discharged me back to my GP.... However he is still pushing me to take statins which caused me many muscle pains and brain fog last time round... . and the science for statins is very very questionable.....
Morning all. As you might guess it is warm and sunny again. They say that it is the driest period in these parts for thirty years. Rain was forecast for Wednesday, but that has been removed, and we must wait until next weekend. The annual fete takes place on the 14th and 15th of the month, and already the council grass cutter has been around the cycle race course making sure that no brambles are overhanging the road, and all the corners are cleared. A couple of days before the race the council will send the machine with the big brushes to remove any grit left behind by the patching gang. I will have my seat by the side of the house to watch the race and collect the handfuls of fruit sweets thrown in my direction and will share a glass or two with the neighbours.
Not been around, yorkshire, but glad to hear you’ve been ok for 6 months. Don’t know much about statins, but think I read something fairly recentlyish about how their effects had been over-egged. Keep well, anyway.
Morning all. Man from the Météo tells me it will be dry during the day, but there is a small chance of some showers overnight. Yesterday afternoon there was a bit of a stir in the village when an ambulance turned up, blue lights flashing, something I have only seen twice before in fifteen years. It appears that grandma who is visiting from Paris had a bit of a turn, whatever that might mean, so the medics were called out. Half an hour in the house with her, and she had recovered, and the crew pulled away without taking her with them. We are lucky that one of our neighbours is an English trauma nurse who worked in Taunton before he moved over here at the same time as us. Anyone in need of medical help goes to him while waiting for a doctor to arrive. He now works part time as a district nurse, so I called on him to take the stitches out after my minor op. I have another neighbour who can take away the pain from burns with a very strange form of mumbo jumbo. Mme managed to burn herself on the oven, and she received the treatment. Immediately the pain left her, and the red burn mark disappeared within the hour. Strange things go on in the countryside. Enjoy your day whatever you are planning.
Yes statins are certainly questonable... with some nasty side effects for some....i have a couple of books on the subject.... and we actually need cholestrol... so the science is dodgy..... some one is making millions out of them
