It's very strange watching Pouchy have a conversation with himself.

Unlucky England with Anderson & Woakes - disagree that it was a mistake to play the former, just a gamble that didn't pay off. It's not like we had a backup player, unless we'd played another spinner like Leach, and neither team seemed to think the pitch would spin like it did. Well played Australia - Smith is clearly one of the greats. Rest of them were made to look quite ordinary - which in a team with Warner in it is an achievement in and of itself.

Should be a cracking rest of the series. England will be hard pressed to win it from here, of course, but that's the beauty of sport - you never quite know what's going to happen.

Yeah that will be a problem.

I never pissed in anything I shouldn't but I was guilty of stealing and duping a few times.

We'd been given time off to compete in the athletics for the school at Gateshead Stadium. I got asked all the time for that and the cross country team but just kept on flat refusing despite being easily the 2nd best 800m runner (the best was English cross country champion and he could not be beaten at anything from 800m upwards). Athletics just never really did it for me much to Mrs Mooney's frustration. Anyway once I found out I'd miss a test I accepted the invite for the first and only time (I realised I'd been in error refusing it all that time. Disappointed that I never worked out that athletics meant fit girls in next to nothing)

Anyway part of the rigmarole was to ask the tutor in question his permission. I did which he granted and while I stood at the door he went into the cupboard at the back of the classroom. Devilment got he better of me and I stole the paper off his desk.

So I'd like to take this opportunity to apologise to Mr Newton. You were one of the good guys and deserved better.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing for a supporter. Leach should have played instead of Ali, and Stone should have replaced Anderson. The selectors however while they don't have the benefit of hindsight, are paid to get such decisions right. I think the key mistake made was not getting him to prove his fitness vs Ireland. They said he was ready but just decided not to risk him. Clearly that was a poor decision.

I still think England can win it but they must get their selection right and also grow some nuts in that batting ranks.

Nah honestly mate he was a good guy. Only stood about 5ft 6in, had a wonky eye, but he was a diamond of a bloke. Always made lessons entertaining and everyone liked him. Mr Thomas on the other hand was an old school bully who used to pin us up against the wall. You couldn't do that now. Got done for ****ing a lass who was in sixth form. She was mint so I couldn't really blame him bar the whole abuse of power thing...

Nah it's pretty easy to not do so.

If you want to find someone unattractive then try sitting them down and teaching them something against their will. 18-21 year olds you don't know may be attractive but ones you've known since they were 11 are still just 11 in your head to be honest. I have a modicum of sympathy for teachers under the age of 25 as they're still kids themselves really but it's often married people who are quite a bit older who get embroiled in these things and it's hugely unsavoury.

Haha, well apart from still being a criminal offence for teachers of course.

Rightly so. The pupil could be 19 (or older) and resitting A-levels, I believe I'm correct in saying that so long as they are on the school register it is an imprisonable, criminal offence and should be - position of trust, working with children, etc. It's easy for me as I was already married with children when i got into teaching, I'd like to think I'd have coped when younger but it's easy to say that.

Can't remember what teenage girls were like at sex. Back then I was so concerned about them judging my performance it didn't occur to me to judge theirs.
