Was I supposed to take the inference that Shaks association with the bottle has made him look like a particular type of bottle? Or is it a coincidence that the Mateus Rose bottles were short & dumpy?

I'm the same Essex. I can remember the matches I've seen back in the 80s but forget the most recent ones.
I think both home and away kits are poor for a centenary season. Should definitely have given a nod to white yellow and blue on the home kit, rather than grey (platinum I know is the metal to represent a 100 yr so get that, but it doesn't reproduce in material.) We should have also added perhaps the badge in black or the away kit again in black as a season or two ago, to mark our colours for the original 1919 kit.
I'm the same with the music from that era, 2 notes in and I know the song, half way through now and I'm still trying to think of the title and that's with stuff I buy.
The one problem I've always had is remembering lyrics, my eldest can sing word for word all Korn songs, but even Elvis I can't remember all the words.
