http://www.fanatix.com/news/wolves-snubbed-chance-to-sign-qpr-new-boy-388/ Mick McCarthy has confirmed he rejected the opportunity to sign Joey Barton because the controversial midfielder did not fit in with the 'Wolves way'. The 28-year-old former Newcastle star man joined QPR in the summer as the Hoops begun to splash the cash under new owner Tony Fernandes by signing established Premier League performers such as Barton, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Anton Ferdinand and Luke Young. The Wolves boss, who will welcome QPR to Molineux on Saturday, admitted his admiration for Barton the footballer despite not taking the up the option to sign him. "He's a very good Premier League player, without a doubt," said the boss. "He was offered to everyone from Kuwait to Kuala Lumpur to Kansas City to Wolverhampton. But I wouldn't have done it. Asked if he was surprised by Barton ended up at QPR, McCarthy added: "There arent many clubs bigger than Newcastle. "I think it was because Tony Fernandes was prepared to give him £65,000-a-week. He was always going to go somewhere. It wasn't going to be a 'middle of the road' club like us paying him £65,000-a-week on a three-year deal." -he really is a toss pot, Barton doesnt play the wolves way? Is he forgetting how Barton was targeted when Henry kicked the **** out of him. Mc Carthy is such a boring ****er. RANT OVER
Technically everyone was offered him as he was available for free. Load of **** though, he would walk into the Wolves team.
C'mon lads, most of us would have talked this way about Barton before he joined us. Its McCarthy's prerogative to not want him or any other player at his Club. Remember him and Joey have Previous. I think Big Mick's alright. He's like our Nelly and ses it the way he sees it. His loss our gain.
Don't care about this when Barton proves it for us then respect will given Faurlin is a better player by a mile for me and will be worth 17m by the time this season is finished watch him prove me right .... Unpharsed already wait til JOEY gets bored because his football don't always talk Is Micks nose bent in HD or it is my telly he can smell round corners
By his high standards, I thought Joey was relatively subdued against Newcastle. I think, because it's his old team. It's good he's got that behind him - as far as Joey is concerned, the best is yet to come and (having had some doubts about taking him originally) I'm feeling optimistic. We had Newcastle fans admitting they had tears in their eyes when Joey waved goodbye at the end of the game at LR. That's a special player...
I don't see a lot wrong with Mick's comments, seems fair to me. Barton was probably the right player at the wrong time for Wolves. They have enough depth in the midfield area with Milijas, O'Hara, Henry and Guedioura all of whom are good players.
Does anyone really care what Mick McCarthy thinks? We all know Barton would walk into their side. McCarthy looks like Mr Burns.
Apparently the monotone moaner rejected Messi too because he's a closet midget hater and anyone under 5'6 doesn't meet the "Wolves way" philosophy. You heard it here first...
i wasnt keen on barton joining us and i hope to be proved wrong.. if he lasts all season without being sent off at least twice i will send him a postal order so he can have a beer on me
