Oxford are an average League One side, wherever you find the Gills you normally find them

But it's first game of the season, and Oxford don't have a bad record against Sunderland. The bigger teams normally get the jitters first few games, so Sunderland could either go straight to the top tonight by stuffing them 4-0 or the more likely scenario of a draw 1-1.

 

I remember losing our opening game at home in our promotion year, biggest favourites in recent third tier history and turned over by Plymouth at home

 

Coincidentally we virtually sealed both our promotion and their relegation in the reverse fixture on May bank holiday as well.

 

Always the same first few games. I can remember when Sheffield United came to us first game, we stuffed them 4-0. That's why I wanted to start with Ipswich at home, catch them while they don't know what to expect....sadly it's Donny away, not relishing the result come 5pm. If we get a draw I'd be more than happy.

 

So it’s a win-win for me.

Never forget the year we got promoted from L2 - Shrewsbury that season stuffed us 7-0 in the league, our revenge was sweet in the play-off final.
