A difficult summer but does Radrizzani deserve all the grief?

I’m assuming he asked before he started begging ‘moneyed’ fans.

Why do you think he’s steered us round the obstacles WJ. Doesn’t the ‘difficult summer’ suggest otherwise? There just haven’t been any matches for him to sit outside with cap in hand. <laugh>

I heard about this way back - possibly even before January. So several obstacles have no doubt been steered past. I hope!!! <yikes>

I was just wondering to myself - when he mentioned 'difficult summer', I've always assumed it was financial matters. I'm now wondering if he knew that Pontus had to go (for non-financial reasons) long ago, and knew there would be a backlash?

What about the group linked to PSG? Didn't they want to buy him out / still do?

Did they? You tell me, I wasn't at any of the meetings. If any took place.

Just like everyone else, I only learned what the clickbait sites told me. Which was nothing. Unless speculation & guesswork are now considered fact.

Julien Laurens, a very well respected french journalist confirmed that talks had taken place. Admittedly he thought a takeover was going to happen at some point but he thought sooner rather than later, so no not a clickbait site.

Talks about what? The best strip clubs to go to? He had no idea. Total guesswork. Released the story without checking it out properly. One simple fact amid lots of speculation with no foundation. If that's not clickbait, what is? 'Some people met in an office about something' is the apparent substance of the story. Everything else is sensationalist twaddle. No quotes, nothing. Just a gamble that the meeting might be about what he hoped it might be. And ultimately, as you mention, he got his guesswork completely wrong anyway.

I presume he became well respected by doing proper stories and not nonsense like this?

And yet you have no idea whether the meeting / meetings did take place. You choose to believe they didn’t, so you decide it’s ‘nonsense’, therefore it must be. Open your mind to a bit of debate.

I choose to believe that you didn't land on Saturn last Friday too. And until I am convinced otherwise, that thought will remain with me! :) Just because you can't provide evidence to suggest otherwise doesn't mean my mind is closed to debate.

And you're right, I have no idea if the meeting took place, and yet that is the most solid & believable part of the story as it appears to have been witnessed (unless he's made that bit up too). I simply contested that this journalist had absolutely no idea what they were meeting about. Which he clearly didn't. How do I know this? Simple, he would have told us convincingly, rather than speculating.

I'm not quite sure if i've addressed your accusation in the manner you had hoped for, but you were a bit vague.

You’re in truculent mood today WJ. That’s two of us you’ve had a go at on similar lines... essentially for painting a narrative you don’t like.

A journalist isn’t getting a quote from two sides who’ll have signed nda’s. I’ve no idea whether this meeting took place, what it was about if it did.. but to say it’s nonesense you would have to know the info was wrong surely?

You’ve said yourself Radz had been begging for investment... why would he not still be looking (unless the fact he’s sold half the playing staff, means we’re suddenly rolling in it... as opposed to demonstrating he’s skint)

...you never replied to me on the other thread... which was a similar argument.

I was vague because I was posting what a French journalist, who I presume has sources had openly stated / reported. I’m simply offering an opinion that is there to be discussed and shot at. I’m not so pompous as to offer my opinion as fact to close off others viewpoints.
Saturn was fine thanks for asking, but lacked a little atmosphere. I’m convinced that you landed on Uranus at the weekend though <ok>

LOL. It wasn't you I was digging out, it's the 'journalism' we have to put up with these days. They have little or nothing to go on, so pounce on a simple fact (like people spotted in the same room), and all of a sudden, there's a carefully worded lengthy narrative, aimed at fact-hungry fans, in the full knowledge that all sorts of inferences will be taken. The clickbait sites are full of it, as are the redtops (including Mail & Express, who've joined the redtop pack). There are very few journalists to listen to these days, and d'you know what - it's because of their integrity that the clubs allow them to have snippets that no-one else gets. This French journalist just dropped a division imo.

The essence you refer to is incorrect. When a narrative I don't like is entirely factual, I have to suck it up like anyone else. When it's a load of baloney constructed around the barest, tiniest fact, I get angry. You may have noticed, particularly when it gets absorbed as fact by so many fans (mostly on FB, I might add).

...you never replied to me on the other thread... which was a similar argument. I have a life. And a shocking memory. There are hundreds of posts I've meant to respond to over the years. But since you've asked nicely, I've already responded. :D

I know, looking back alcohol free I think I was beered and emotional. From reports I followed, they definitely met but suggestion was Radz was after investment and they wanted a full takeover. Fully admit as reported by journalists (ducks for cover) <laugh>

Not wanting to get caught in friendly fire but... I suspect the problem is that conjecture, which is what we do on here most of the time in the summer, is a statement or an idea which is unproven. One could apply this to the meeting in Paris. Debate however is supposed to be a discussion about things that are true akin to the Match Day thread. Now isn't it great that the season is about to start again ?

On the QSI issue my brain keeps taking me back to the first time I read about it, and the author who is a well respected journo spent the first paragraph explaining that this meeting could have absolutely nothing to do with a takeover, simply because Radz and the Prince know each other very well due to business deals when Radz worked for the Chinese Acer Group, Radz doing sporting merchandise deals and with Radz TV and media company 11 sports and also not forgetting that both men are involved in the Aspire Academy

I share the frustration regarding hearsay and lazy journalism passed off as fact. But in my opinion, you’re going the other way by saying it’s nonesense. Truth is we have plenty of circumstantial evidence that he is and has been after investment. This is in the ‘could be something in it, might be nothing’ category.

A journalist isn’t getting a quote from two sides who’ll have signed nda’s. I’ve no idea whether this meeting took place, what it was about if it did.. but to say it’s nonesense you would have to know the info was wrong surely? I refer you to my previous response, above. And I mine. Somethings you aren’t going to get your proof for.

You’ve said yourself Radz had been begging for investment... why would he not still be looking (unless the fact he’s sold half the playing staff, means we’re suddenly rolling in it... as opposed to demonstrating he’s skint) You may have answered your own question! I think it’s pretty obvious why we’ve had a fire sale... but i can’t prove it!

...you never replied to me on the other thread... which was a similar argument. I have a life.you got me with that one <laugh><laugh><laugh>
