They don't, but then not many play 4-3-3. As most of our goals last season didn't come from the strikers, GM obviously doesn't see it as an area of concern.
Which other 18-19 year olds in the U23s have been publicly mentioned by the manager as being in the first team picture this season?
Has he said KLP will be in the first team picture? I might have missed that, but regardless, he's an 18 year old kid I think it's a bit facetious to count him as a third senior strike option any more than we could count any of the U23s as options to back up the squad.
You can think that, that's up to you. I'm just trying to show you how GM is thinking. I'm not saying we aren't trying to sign another striker, just that it isn't a priority right now having signed Eaves and made him number 9, and having played Dicko throughout pre season. If he thought it was that bad, we would have seen another striker come in already. It's also a little bit unfair on KLP, many were clamouring for him to be in the first team last season and he was 17 then, why does his age count against him? Having an 18 year old as third choice isn't the worst thing in the world, especially one as talented as KLP. The U23s are back ups to the squad, but it doesn't mean they're ready to start, KLP is obviously the most talented of that group, so it makes sense he's in the first team picture. The CM options in the U23s aren't brilliant, hence why we're looking at Whiteman/Lopes. If GM wants to go with two strikers, he can take a midfielder off and bring Dicko on. KLP would be on the bench most likely anyway, it's not as though he'd be starting.
Considering GM has said we have 6 fighting for 3 forward spots and those 6 would be Milinkovic, Bowler, Grosicki, Bowen, Eaves and Dicko, I can't say I agree that you are demonstrating how GM is thinking.
We're talking about strikers, the man in the middle of that three. We have four wide men (though DM is likely to be out for a while). Two strikers, three with KLP. So you've answered the question. That's why he's targeting CMs and not forwards.
Sorry? He's said we have 2 strikers, which is what prompted me asking you why you're claiming we have three. This is getting silly. Many of us want more strike options, and hopefully we will get one on loan as the window comes to a close. Relying on two and an 18 year old would be frightening.
KLP is in the first team. He's a striker. So we have three strikers vying for one spot, that's it. Nobody is relying on him to bang in 20 goals, he's just another option if we need him. If one gets injured, another steps in. Again, as most of our goals came from Bowen and Grosicki, it's not an immediate concern. I'm fairly confident they can score the 12 goals FC managed last season between the three of them.
