We obviously need to sell some of our players to get new ones in, and Beef said that things are gathering speed there, but I wonder how important other team's transfers will be. For example, if United get Maguire, Leicester may go for Dunk/Tarkowski, then Brighton/Burnley will need someone and it's a chain. Might allow a lot of moves to happen.
Who seems to think that? Upamecano is one of the most highly rated and most coveted young centre backs in Europe, I'm going to go all Lawrenson and say there is absoloutely no chance he comes here.
Not that I think it'll happen, but I do remember the initial 'he won't come here' in regards to Alderweireld.
I can recall, way back when, I actually created my account in the midst of the Saint Gaston saga - with the purpose of telling you all you were being ridiculous as he would never join us... All we need is another willing fool to start an account to tell us we will never get Upamecano and the job will be done!
I don't remember that tbf. He was barely playing at Atletico (and when he did play he was very average there), I don't recall there being much fanfare around the signing. I may be wrong
I also think the only clubs in for him were us, Newcastle & Sunderland? Weren't Newcastle favourites?

Just to fan the flames a bit. LeG on saintsweb ( respectable ITK apparently) says that because of the high fees now, more selling clubs are starting to accept structured instalments. He mentions this in response to the Upamecano possibility.......just saying! Expect the arrival of Gary Cahill, paid off at around £5 a week

Bit of a left field one, and also not a rumour just me thinking. I would like us to sign Bakayoko on loan from Chelsea, people have been saying we need another DM to protect the back four (and another CM if/when Lemina leaves). Yeah he was trash for Chelsea in his first season here but he was very good prior to that (hence getting the big move to Chelsea), think taking him on loan could be a decent move.
