From a southerners point of view, I would expect a tea cake to be :- i) toasted ii) have sultanas in it iii) have margarine or butter in it
a teacake is white and slightly flat, a currant teacake has currants in it. southerners seem to know bugger all about teacakes other words used down south,bap,cob,roll.
