About 3 weeks ago I got a text from EE saying that due to a change of terms and conditions I could come out of my contract without penalty, and to call them. I phoned them today and was told that due to some new Ofcomm regulation, this was in fact the case. The change relates to charges for calling 08 and 03 numbers which apparently I have used though I can't remember when (unless it was to contact Goddess Orchid ). And because that was flagged up on my account I was automatically eligible to cancel without charge. The best bit, I only got my Samsung S8 on renewal in March. So in effect I've only paid 4 months for a phone on a 2 year contract. I asked the woman several times if this was all correct and indeed it was. I've switched to PAYG on EE because I can't unlock the phone for another 2 months at which point I can fck off to any cheap SIM Only contract for less than £10 per month. Result.
Prob You gotta stick it to "the man" anyway you can mate. For example, I smoke rolling tobbaco always the same brand, but when it gets low it tends to become a bit dry so I often leave that in a drawer until I have to go supermarket to stock up a few packs again. Well, when I stock back up I'll take the dry baccy to the shop with me, open one of the new packs, empty it, replace it with the dry ****, go back in the shop and say "I think this has been opened mate it's all dry inside" They check it, scan it, and give me a new one. Pricks
As it goes Sucky about 20+ years ago whilst in my Uni days I used to work in a pizza place. It was a chain of franchises and they had this policy where if you didn't receive your pizza (on delivery) within 40 minutes you got it free. I knew their systems and back then it was all paper based orders and tbh there was no real system. So one evening when my mate and I were mash up in our Halls, I phoned a different branch and pretending to be a customer, said I'd placed my order half an hour ago and was wondering if it would arrive soon. The chap went away to find my order but of course there was no order, I'd made it up. I knew there was fck all chance they'd be able to make the pizza and deliver inside 10 minutes. And as expected the chap comes back on the phone, apologises for not being able to locate the order and offers a free pizza... and garlic bread and a litre of coke compliments
It's getting harder now than back in the day Sucky. Tbh it was never about the money, always about getting one over on the "system". A bit of clever rebellion. The EE thing is different. I've been with the fckers for about 20 years in one way or another. And along the way they've screwed me... whether it was reneging on a price for a contract I'd been quoted, or the **** wifi on my home broadband. At one point I had about 4 separate contracts with them and even then loyalty counted for very little. So fck 'em. In two months the only thing left with EE will be my broadband and phone line. And when that expires I'll fck them off completely. The woman even tried to keep me as a customer by offering me a Samsung 10 inch tablet with 2GB for £15 per month on a new 2 year contract ffs - A new one costs £200 which means I would be paying about £7 per month for 2GB... ****s!
Yeah mobile company's are ****s mate, never had a contract phone tbh you can guess why Giffgaff for years now, 20 quid a month unlimited everything.
That's exactly where I'm going. I was checking out the £20 deal but will go with £10 and it's flexible so can drop to £8 or up to £12 if need be as and when.
