Also, I never even knew that Du Maurier wrote The Birds! I know Hitchcock made Rebecca, but I assumed The Birds was his. Can't believe it's taken me til now to read any Du Maurier. And my mum has always been telling me too.
Same here. I barely watch more than a couple of hours a week these days and have gone weeks without turning it on at all. If it wasn't for the iPlayer I think I'd not watch a thing. I don't have an aerial or dish, for example.
I just like the sense of achievement of getting through a book. A book is a piece of art, like a painting. Especially the classics. Absolutely timeless. TVs and movies on the whole are made as a means of making the production companies money. So its not art for me. Just entertainment.
Yes. The other thing about books is that your mind paints the picture. This is why I like audio too. It too can allow your mind to paint the picture, only with audio I can be doing something else at the same time - almost multitasking.
Lots of people find this weird , but MRS J and I love listening to TMS . They PAINT the game if that makes sense ?
It was the shock of it . We thought that the new kitchen floor ( Tiles ) had caused him to struggle , he went roaring in . Instead of getting stuck on carpet , went bouncing off things . Then Libby ( kitten ) turned up and started chasing him , we assumed she was making matter worse . Took him to the vets this morning , next to no muscle left in either rear leg …. The vets did all sorts of testes , inc blood . NOTHING . Suggested seeing a neuorological specialist . Money no matter ( he was insured ) . But the thought of putting the poor little thing through Sedation , mri scans etc , he did not need that **** . So I made the decision to say goodbye to him while he was Physically impaired , but mentally content . I KNOW I have done the right thing for him . Heartache to follow , then 12 1/2 years of memories
If you're a sea-lion this is a pooping-your-pants situation. A humpback whale breached with mouth wide open, while feeding on anchovies [their little nappies were messy too] This seems to be the first time this has ever been caught on camera. The photographer, Chase Dekker, is pretty sure the Sea Lion swam away. 1] Humpbacks are filter feeders and sea-lions are way over their size limit for their throats, plus it has no teeth, but baleen. 2] The whale apparently submerged with its mouth open, allowing enough time for the sea-lion to swim away unharmed, but wiser. And with a change of undies on the schedule marked 'urgent'. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-49161923
Can you believe it that Florida in the USA is using their allocation of the very welcome VW Diesel-gate money [$166 million of it] to upgrade their transport infrastructure? Yes they are. They're putting in THREE Rapid chargers. AND taking away their smoky old diesel school buses and replacing them with new.... smoky diesel buses.. And other states aren't necessarily going to do the right thing either with their money allocation. Meanwhile, China and India... China has rolled out thousands of electric buses. India is about to do the same.
Fingers crossed for me. If all my meetings run to schedule today, I’ll have a hot date later today with a special lady who is not from Troy.
Very sad, Jasper. It’s always a heartbreaking decision. My girlfriend has a 16 year old poodle who’s such a character and absolutely lovely, but he’s getting increasingly frail and, I’m afraid, it’ll only be a matter of time until we have to make the painful decision. Now, if only I could do the same for my 96 year old Mum who’s currently sat in QA recovering from pneumonia and sepsis, but with no quality of life ........ I know what she would want, she’s told me
Sorry Dave. It frustrates me so much that we can't do anything to end human life even when the person themselves has had enough. We're going through this with Mrs Onionman's 95yo father. He tells us weekly that he just wants to go. Why on earth can't a trained person talk to him every month for six months to check that no-one's coercing him, to be sure that he knows what he's doing and then after he's calmly said his goodbyes to us, painlessly and peacefully, someone who knows what they are doing could ease him on his way? I'm lucky. My exit's planned. My only fear is that something happens to me to stop me being able to carry it out. It'll be peaceful (and enjoyable), my life will end and I'll sink into the abyss of non-existence. Better for me, better for everyone. Vin
I feel terrible liking this post but it's a show of sympathy and understanding more than "liking". So, so sad but you showed your love for him until the very end I've sent you a pm, No1J
Well, it is quite warm here I pity your wife if you think a hot date is at the local Costa... See you later, flt
