Considering what we paid fort him then I expect it will be a profit but thats not necessarily true that they'll sell him, we've lost one player so far who we knew was going so no surprise there and by selling James means that Birch can state that we don't need to sell and believes it then thats has to be a price worth paying to keep this current squad together . We've always sold players and that will continue but the Club survives each season and will do no matter what league we're in and thats what matters imo

I think there are worse teams in the championship than you valley, on the field and financially. The mcburnie sale should see next years fall in parachute payments covered as well. What you need is a period of stability in the management team to start the rebuild. I can see you finishing around the same place as last season, though losing mcburnies goals will take some replacing.
There will be a couple last minute signings / loans for you. Might mean a slow start while the team gels, but I think Cooper will see you safe.

You still need a couple players in the door before I think that position is achievable, but there is still time. Ideally you want signings in at the start of pre season, but we don't live in an ideal world. I remember Dave Jones first season with us. We were signing players right up to the end (one player signed on the Thursday that played on the Saturday). Think we won one of our first 10, but ended top half. You've lost a couple flair players, but its the wider squad that will keep you safe. The risk is that your new signings will be youngsters. You need a bit of experience to hold things together. That might be coopers failing. He's used to working with youngsters and might think that is all he needs. Old, calm heads through the spine (keeper, CD, CM and up front) with young legs running around them as a minimum.
