It's not all or nothing. Vinegar has its place on some food. I wouldn't stick it in a curry ffs. But chips is definitely one of them. You probably dash salad cream or mayo on them
Mayo and ketchup, remember going to dam for the 1st time and getting chips and the ****s covering them with both. But that's how they have chips there. Still needed vinegar though
Funny you say that, there is a store near me called world market that sells all sorts of international food. I like to try different things from it. They have various Indian sauces to cook with. You can tell which of the Indian foods are from Britain and which are really from India by looking at the ingredients. Without fail the British made Indian food has vinegar high up the ingredient list. (It amuses me that most of the Indian products they sell actually come from Great Britain). Salad cream is too damn vinegary too... Mayo is better than anything vinegar based but I tend to stay away from it, not the healthiest condiment... Not that chips are exactly health food, I only have them a few times a year. I've learnt that curry on chips has become a thing since I left England. That sounds delicious, wish it was around 20 years ago.
Yeah, very hard to find decent chips in the US in the first place. Most are nasty skinny things that have been fried too long and have a weird consistency. Americans, despite their love of "fries" are terrible at making them.
